2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 3

In a move of treason, I'm rooting for an Italian upset. What an Olympic that would be for them :dev3:

American here. I feel the same way. It would be great for Italy. However, I can't agree with the PCS marks/ strange under-rotation call for Adam that got him placed in third and made Italy's win more probable.

The real questions to watch for:

1. Can Carolina get second place?
2. Can Mirai get higher than last?

Finally, in the dance event. Will the Russian power or Shib's long program issues allow Italy/Russia to place above them?

Did she say that for real?

OMG that makes me like her even more, we need an english interview with her (TSL? Icenetwork? Please!), she knows what's up.

yep she said that.
and also that if japan was in the mix, satoko would be getting different scores.

I think Kaori will be 2nd in today's LP. Writing's been on the wall for both her and Satoko this season, yet she still seems to be widely underestimated.

Good. Happy about Rizzo and the men performance overall

A tie is still possible for Italy, but soooooooooooooo difficult now, and don't depends only on Italy and USA.

:cheer: :hap10: :cheer:

I want to see a clean FS from Caro.

She has been having more than average skates all season and getting crazy scores for nothing, so now i actually want to see her clean and deserving the scores she gets.

If she has one shots for one clean free program, i'd prefer if she saves it for the individual event.

But hey, at least she ditched the green unitard, parabéns!

CAN 55 + 6 + 6 = 67

OAR 48 + 10 + 10 = 68

So... Russia wins if V/M and Daleman come 5th, if I'm calculating this right. lol

Not only would V/M and Daleman have to come fifth, but B/S have to come first. If V/M somehow just bomb the FD, B/S still have to beat the shibs and C/L.

Underwhelming competition for the top countries so far with the exception of a few performances. It feels like only the skaters from the smaller federation has actually show up.

Not that I always agree with it, but it's a question of degree of difficulty. I'm not sure why people seem to think this is so hard for viewers to understand (especially since that's what the commentators are for, to explain it) — degree of difficulty explains results in many, many sports.
But the technical score was similar...

Soooo by the end of this season, if they go to worlds and win, Tessa Virtue will be as decorated as Oksana Grishuk. Let that sink in for a minute

Chan’s PCS is gonna our him ahead... Adam should be ahead of at least one of Chan or kolyada

Adam was very fortunate to get that score considering much of his program is two-footed skating and crossovers, with a lots of posing. But his jumps were not bad today.

Wonderful skate by Adam but not worthy of beating even a struggling Chan. Chan needs to regain the confidence as that helps his flow and jumps. He really has lost it but let's hope for the sake of skating he gets it for the individual event. Not sure why Japan didn't use Shoma unless it is to save him for the individual event. Japan had a shot for the bronze. I never expected the USA to be in trouble. Regardless of how Mirai skates I am not so sure Bradie would do better. Even though she has been very consistent with the jumps you never know on the world stage of the olympics what migth be.

Canada is in the driver's seat really. It's all over if Daleman is third or if Alina doesn't win anyways. It will be super hard for Canada to lose unless Virtue and Moir get injured in the middle of their skate.

Poor Weaver and Poje. They must just be in agony. The unlucky stepchildren. Here's hoping for some extra luck for them. Now the drama is really Italy and the US. If Mirai bombs into fifth and Carolina is second then we have a real show down. I forgot the tie breaker but I think who has the highest placement So USA has a second in dance and Italy has a second in ladies.Pairs might be key if there is a tie breaker But it could come down to dance to get the tie - ie can Italy beat Russia??

1. Yes
2. If Daleman melts down and judges decide to bear down on Kaori's PCS (and if Carolina melts down). It's not as impossible as it looks, really.

As long as she decides she doesn't want to be the next reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe, I'm more than ok with that...

It sucks that in the judges eyes a clean Carolina wouldn't even beat a 2 mistake

Zagitova at this point with her FS from juniors, Now that they for some reason brought

her up to high 150s category
