2018 Worlds Ladies FS

I think also, this was probably her best shot of becoming World Champion and she knew it, especially with Med gone. She saw how quickly Med got dethroned by her over the course of just one season, and next season with Trusova in seniors (with a 10+ point TES lead btw) it is perhaps unlikely she'll have a chance at World Championship gold. Hopefully she'll regroup and come back next year and win at least a medal.
well, trusova will have to land those jumps. its not going to be easy.

Alina's nightmare performance shows what a risky programme it is.
Many think backloading is a cheap trick but there is a reason why no one does it. It causes tremendous pressure on the skater. Both mentally and physically.
Add that lutz/loop combo to the mix (even males stay away from it) and you have a bomb ready to explode in few seconds.
Today it made me appreciate what a sensational season Alina has had. Hopefully it won't leave a scar and she'll be back as good as ever.

Kaetlyn completely deserved her win today. Solid as a rock. Let's hope she doesn't lose her motivation.

SO happy for Higuchi, Satoko and Japan's third spot. Japanese skaters have qualities that are unique to them and are always beautiful to watch.

Backloading may not be a trend as expected after this.

She has only one shot for world gold next season. Trus and Kosto are waiting in the wings woth fangs out.

:ohwell: we should wait and see... hope this doesn´t create a type of PTSD for her... but certainly people will think twice before back loading a program...

I think a lot of skaters get mean spirited criticism they don’t deserve. Masha was quoted as saying basically how much it hurts her to read some of the things she finds about herself and that her and other skaters just want to skate and make the world her a better place.

So many mean things have been said about her and her programs this year but she too is a super sweet girl who works as hard as anyone else and has always kept it super classy. I just don’t understand how people can be so mean.

Me too. I've seen a lot of nasty things about skaters, sometimes even about the juniors.

I really don't get why some people feel the need to be so acidic about these athletes, who train so hard. Okay, one beat your fave. So? I don't see the skater who was beaten be so bitter and insulting, so why should their fans?
It's good to see how skaters are much classier than the people calling them names.

Hopefully it won't leave a scar and she'll be back as good as ever.

It's getting interesting now in how Eteri Tudberidze will handle this. I hope it doesn't create a rift in the relationship and that next season Alina can come back with a more balanced program that perhaps does not make her win every competition but will give her room to grow and mature a bit. If she'd won this here, I could imagine her motivation going down to zero. Because what more is there to do? This actually makes me hope we can enjoy her for a few more seasons and see her grow up. Alina is the first female skater I sort of have 'motherly' feelings for. I just want to protect her and see her flourish.

Wakaba silver medalist after the SP disappointment. It's what she deserves and man I wish I was awake to watch this event because it looks like it was drama llama!!!!😱😱😱😱

Looking at the results I see that both Alina and Carolina made just one mistake too many. One less mistake and they would have been on the podium.

I thought I was asking for too much when I wanted Wakabond and Satton on the same podium. But I guess I wasn't! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo: Welcome back to the 3s club, Japan!! Sometimes I feel so unpatriotic but I am just not disappointed at all about USA ladies losing a spot. It wasn't being put to good use anyway. I would have liked to have seen Caro win it, but for me it was all or nothing for her. I'm glad she won the short and gets that medal. Still not a fan of Osmond's free, but congrats to her. For Zag. I have my issues with her but one thing that stuck with me was a commentator mentioning that with her layout, it's very risky because if you miss one jump it's like a house of cards crashing down and you'll miss the rest because it's so stacked and you don't have a lot of recovery time like skaters that space their jumps out better. So it was interesting to see that possible theory play out to some degree.

I scored Osmond at 135 and Wakaba at 139, suspicious about Wakaba only getting a Level 3 footwork call though, I will need to look at that. Would be another 1 point for her if it's Level 4.[/QUOTE

You can look at it all you like my boy...Too bad you are not a judge. You crack me up 🤣 . Osmond won the Gold and you can add up all your points that you like....you can’t take it away from her, just like the Team Gold at the Olympics. Like I said in a previous post, I would have loved to see the faces of some people on this site when they gave Kaetlyn her Gold medal. Add up your points, it makes no difference.😉🧐

Wow, Wakaba and Kaetlyn brought it, very happy for both of them. Gutted for Alina, but she's had an incredible season and she'll bounce back.

Exactly.

Eteri´s face in the kiss & cry was a poem... and BTW the jacket the male coach was wearing has a pretty cool desing

To me Osmond winning is kind of like Buttle's win 10 years ago - not expected, but without question the best 2 overall programs, no questions asked. She got the highest PCS and technical. She beat out the technical masters as well as the 'artiste's. Ie, not in doubt at all.

Woohoo Canada!

How fitting that Jeffery choreographed this long program for Kaetlyn. :cheer:

Who told this? I need him to give me the lotto numbers for my country ASAP

He didn't say Kaetlyn shouldn't have won. Just that he would have scored the frees differently, and Wakaba would win it. I would have no problem with it.
