What a lovely thread we have here.
If someone just read this you wouldn't need to wonder why this forum is 'supposedly anti-Canadian'.
Congratulations to Kaetlyn, Wakaba, and Satoko on their medals.
Positive thoughts to Alina and Carolina.
And lots of rest for Gabby to heal that sprained ankle.
I know this has no place itt, but since it's been brought up:
I've lurked here in the past from time to time, rarely posted but felt like I might as well starting late this season, so I'm aware there's been some sentiment that there's an "anti-Canadian" bias. I
do see it, especially against Kaetlyn, and I'm not even really much of a fan of hers; love her jumps when they're on, feel an east coast connection to her, but that's it. I especially wish the Bash Canada in ways obvious and subtle would stop coming from people who go out of their ways to be kind to other skaters from other countries.
That said, I'm embarrassed by what I read in some posts that have a Canadian flag beside them. I keep hoping those folks are trolls pretending to be Canadian to stir up trouble but I know the reality is they probably aren't, they're just ultra-homer fans. On balance, they're fewer voices but, in a different way, just as ugly. I guess, for me, it's a wash. It's also about what I expect from a fan forum of any sort. People have favourites and, with a sport that's largely in the "Olympic sport" category, fans of home skaters first, and anti-fans of their direct rivals, are to be expected. GS, or any figure skating forum really, has nothing on what you read elsewhere for other sports - in comparison, this is a happy friendly love zone of international camaraderie.
Oh, and to be somewhat on topic, congrats again to the entire podium - and extra love for Wakaba, because I'm biased.

Hugs to Alina again, and her teammates after a scary near loss of those, much needed in Russia's case, three spots.
Hugs for Gabby too - 'cause I'm biased again - and also Caro, who came so close to a fairytale last big win at home.
Cheers for surprise breakout star Loena.
See you all soon for the men.
