Vincent Zhou

I didn't know he likes Domo-kun that much. Hopefully NHK have found this out already and JSF will invite him to the NHK Trophy and Akiko's Room next season.

Hi, champs. Apparently, once of Vincent's old skating coaches gave him a Domo-kun as a birthday present when he was a little kid (around 10 years of age) and he carried it with him to all his competitions as a lucky charm. So his friends started gifting him more Domo-kun's since he love it so much. Thus the collection grew. Someone threw a big Domo plush for him at the Olympics, which he carried to the Green Room.

Do you think the JSF will invite him simply because of the Domo-kun connection, LOL? I've seen the videos of Akiko's Room with Jason Brown and Deniss and Stephane and they were so adorable. Vincent can be a bit shy and serious on camera, so hopefully he will loosen up when talking about his Domo-kun, LOL. He has many loyal fans in Japan. So maybe that can help.

Vincent uploaded the latest poster and invitation to the Ice Fantasia Show: "Come see us perform at Mokdong Arena here in South Korea on April 20-22nd!"

Misha Ge, who is choreographing, uploaded a practice photo with this message:

"Group Choreos Begins : Boys Number - Music by BTS"

You can see Vincent on the left, Misha, Alex Gamelin, Junhwa, Boyang and probably Jin-seo Kim.

Alex also posted a short snippet of everybody on the bus through his Instagram Story, shared by a fan's tweet. You can spot Gabby Daleman, Yura Min, Jin-Seo, Vincent, and Boyang. Couldn't tell if Junhwan was the one at the front of the bus or not.

OMG, Vincent on the bus playing with his phone like a BOss. gives me major Nathan vibe there:biggrin:

Thanks for updates about Vincent.
just wanna add, Vincent's Chinese fan club may not be stalking him. they have personal contact with Vincent's family and can get some photos directly from Vincent.

I hope the show will be up on youtube so we can all enjoy it from across the world. This is great that Vincent is getting show experience and appreciation from fans. Is his mother traveling with him? Age 17 seems a little young to be in a foreign country alone. Glad he is enjoying his time in Asia with the other top skaters. :)

I would assume the lovely Fay Ge is traveling with her son Vincent - but idk for sure.

Happy for Vincent that he is getting these opportunities!

The wonderful Misha Ge uploaded a clip of Ice Team Dancing with everybody doing synchronized twizzles and a hilarious photo of the exhausted team laying on the ice. Poor Vincent has his face down as he provided his legs for Evgenia to sleep on. Alina is the only one on her knees, looking at Evgenia and probably thinking, get off from Vincent, he and I won the JWC last year together and he should be my pillow

How’s Cast ended Day 2 ( 9am to 8pm ). The team must be exhausted. Hope they had a chance to eat some bulgogi and get a good night's rest.

Ice Fantasia Instagram also has a clip of the guys dancing.

Looks like Misha drilled some beat into Vincent in this dance clip from Yura Min's Tweet (with Jin-Seo and Alex). Misha knows how to do the funk so the team dance choreography must be loads of fun! Cannot wait for videos to surface. BTW, Ice Fantasia has issued a list of banned items: "video cameras, digital cameras, smartphones, mobile phones and other video devices are prohibited from taking pictures of the banned ︎flash photography (ok without flash)." Hopefully, resourceful fans will figure out a way to sneak some videos or photos. And official recording should be made available for online viewing as this is a large ice show with International figure skaters.

Whoa, he's got Evgenia sleeping on his legs? Vincent must be in skating heaven now. I thought it was cute during the Olympics when he seemed to be in awe that Mirai Nagasu was in his room, eating his food! Can't wait to see more of this show and practices.

Yes, Vincent is truly playing in the big leagues now. He's going to be skating with Plushy, Aliona & Bruno, and Tatiana & Maxim! Talk about FS heaven :luv17:
And how wonderful to be choreographed by Misha, who will definitely drill some fun and funk into the routine and get him to loosen up. The team is lucky to have Misha as he speaks Chinese and Russian, so no interpreter is necessary.

As for Mirai, I got the impression that he was kind of annoyed that she ate his food (probably homemade goodies by his mom). They train together with TomZ so I doubt he was awestruck by her, LOL

I guess Vincent was saving the good stuff (Rippon 4Lz) for the Ice Show. He is having way too much fun at Ice Fantasia practices! :hap85:

Just found some funny clips from Yura's and Alex's ig stories:
This clip shows Jin-seo pushing Vincent around the ice on a chair .

This one is Vincent clapping at Jin-seo's jump.

Here is a funny clip from Boyang's fanpage. This time it is Vincent doing the pushing, with Boyang in the chair. Great exercise, Vincent!
Boyang's message to his fans: "My new program with Vincent, do you like it?" He is so funny. You should check out his spastastic jacket. FYI, Boyang calls Vincent by the Chinese term of endearment/nickname for a young person, Little Zhou.

Snippets (no audio) of boys on the ice, shake that booty. I'm sure there will be more in the next few days.

So glad to see Vincent boy enjoying himself and having such a good time with a fun group of skaters! :)

Show skating on an international level should help him mature as a performer and competitor. Am VERY keen to see how he approaches the 2018/19 season. I expect him to fully capitalize on any signs of of a 'crack in the door' should Nathan find himself burdened by Yale/Competing twin expectations.

More social media updates on Ice Fantasia rehearsals:

Vincent and Boyang – hiding in the corner, playing a game. Adorable!
They are probably playing Chopsticks. Vincent is teaching Boyang how to add up the fingers: "one plus one equals two."

Cute group poses of the guys, with Junh-wan in his Peanut Butter Jelly pose in the first one.
Group rehearsal photos. I guess Misha's programs were too tiring that Boyang had to lean on Vincent’s shoulder. He looked totally pooped out :laugh2:

Some old Vincent and Boyang photos for comparison:
Meeting Boyang at Barcelona GPF 2015, where Boyang came in at 5th and Vincent came in at 4[SUP]th[/SUP] in Junior Men. Boy, has Vincent grown up in the last 2 years.
With Boyang and Adam at Finlandia Trophy 2017
With Boyang, Max, Cong and Han Yan at Cup of China gala 2017

I hope Boyang had a chance to share some wisdom on how to deal with failed skates as they both had disastrous FPs at Worlds. Maybe show "Little Zhou" some tips on how to land those quads the proper way? :)

Oh, don't say that to Nathan fans! :p Seriously, Vincent has great prospects. He just needs more polished programs. I actually loved his Moulin Rouge, but it didn't give him the chance to showcase his musicality and speed. But then again, when you've got all those quads and jump elements to worry about, it's hard to focus on the PCS side of the program (unless you are Yuzu or Shoma or have a stellar choreographer). Not to mention the fact that it was his first senior year, under tremendous pressure to make the Olympic Team, thus needing to rely on the TES as he didn't have the luxury of time to work on the PCS. Vincent did mention in a recent interview that one of his goals is to develop the component scores through extensive training on movement and skating skills. Now that the Olympic Year is over, TomZ should ease up on squeezing all those jumps into Vincent's routines and give him room to work on the PCS. He would benefit greatly by working with additional dance coach from outside to help him be more in tune with his body movements. Many fans agree that his current coaching team is not adequate. He needs to upgrade somehow. But you can clearly see how close he is with Tammy and he loves TomZ's jumping techniques.

Love Vincent and Boyang together so much. So cute.
Vincent always looks like kind of serious and maturer than his peers. He returns back to his age when playing around with Boyang. Remember he is just a kid. SO just have fun, vince!
By the way, Chinese fs fans call Vincent "小周"(pinyin:xiao zhou, means little zhou)or "方方"(pinyin: fang fang, comes from his Chinese name "周知方"). They really like him.

One little Nathan fan is lurking here!
but srsly "I expect him to fully capitalize on any signs of of a 'crack in the door' should Nathan find himself burdened by Yale/Competing twin expectations."
I agree with this. Who knows what will happen next 4 years.
The V and N rivalry:dev2::love::luv17::devil:

but in terms of Vincent's training team, he is relatively stable and based on Colorado Springs, plenty of resources there! tons of experts about SS, components and dance. Renowned choreographer Tom Dickson is even located there. Vincent is in good hand. with his drive and focus on FS, I would not worry too much about him also Vincent has a strong marketing team behind him too.

Ice Fantasia Photos from First Night

Wow, took me a while to go through all the links but what great photos from the first night! Thanks to Vincent's great Japanese fans, compiling and taking such great photos.

First a couple of great Instagram pics:
Misha: We are B.T. Ice. :cool14: Cool photogenic & ambient shot of the boys in album cover mode, in homage to Korean boy band BTS.
Ice Fantasia official photo: Looks like Jin-seo proposed to Yura on the spot? The surprised look on some of their faces :laugh:

Everybody follow Jun-hwan and skate around!
Vincent dancing with Jun-hwan and Jin-seo, in some sort of costume. Speaking of costumes:
Final touchups: Vincent sacrificing for the show, dressing up in a white shirt with a ribbon tie and makeup .

Vincent dancing to Chasing Cars and Take On Me
More Take On Me and Chasing Cars photos

Group photos of the boys clowning around and play acting
Group hug and group dance photos
Group dance, looks like they are in school uniform. Alina is wearing a really cute girly uniform.
More group dance photos from MyDaily, probably closing number.

Check out Kote's account for all the great pics she took at the show. These ones are especially nice:
Take On Me photos, Dancing with Alex
Misha, you're the man! Thanks for such great concept and choreography!
Waving to the audience.

Vincent my boy, I am so glad you are having such a wonderful experience! You deserve it after the heartbreak at Worlds. Please keep in touch with Misha and have him choreograph an exhibition program for you in the future! That would be so :cool2:!

A couple of other Japanese fans will be attending the weekend shows so I'll be able to post links to new photos. Looks like everybody had a fabulous time. Can't wait for videos to be uploaded after the show.

Yes, Boyang knows how to play around! He also likes to play waiter, apparently :laugh2:
Boyang: Little Zhou, I am so pooped from all the dancing!
Vincent: You’re tired?! I am the one who had to push you around the rink and spinned around like crazy. Boyang, you are getting old!

Oatmella: yyyskate - I think you should be added as an advisor to Vincent’s coaching team :D

Thanks for your input. Sounds like Vincent’s coaching team hired you on as an advisor and PR rep . Nathan wants to know if you’d be willing to switch teams and get on board with Raf. He would provide you with free tickets to all his shows and competitions plus a lifetime supply of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes if you would be Raf’s PR gal ;)! I mean, just look at this fanart of them hugging, doesn’t that tear you up? Papa Raf and his baby boy Nathan :luv17:

But seriously, I know the training in Broadmoor provides great resources and switching coaches is not the answer. But TomZ and Christy need to start focusing on Vincent’s jump rotations and technique. What’s the point of doing all those jumps if he gets downgraded with such huge GOE deductions and lose out on PCS? The dance coach also needs to provide Vincent with more intensive training. I love him dearly but he doesn’t have the natural body fluidity and musical expressiveness like Jun-hwan, Dima and even Camden. Everybody complains how he doesn’t feel the music, which is totally not true. They just don’t get his style. No disrespect to Jeff Buttle, but yeah, I would love for Vincent to work with Tom Dickson. Something like Matt Savoie’s “The Mission” and all those intricate movements in Satoko’s programs are what he needs to become a more rounded skater. May I ask where do you get the impression that he has a strong marketing team? I know Alibaba from China is sponsoring him, but he seems to be universally underappreciated and undervalued here in the States. That seems to be the consensus of many fans here.
