Well, for now there are two scores I don't understand in this GP. High score of italian pair's free skate and low score of Yuna's free skate.

Nevertheless, I congratulate Stanislava for her silver, she is a real lady. And, of course, Alina. She overcame her nerves and delivered very good skate. We know she can do even better, but in not so easy situation she proved she is a fighter :clapper:

I thought for sure we would see a repeat of last week's podium: 1) the Russian technician, 2) the surprise Japanese lady, 3) Anna Karenina, but I guess not
For a second I thought you meant the technical specialist was gonna be on the podium, and also a Japanese lady who had a surprise. But then I got you!

Anna Karenina snuck up a spot!

This is truly a redux of CoC last year. Great, wonderful skating marred by absolutely BS judging.

Gonna go to sleep before I break my promise to self not to get into ladies' scoring :bed:

Yuna was really robbed. She's the only one who didn't make an obvious mistake in both programs. Yes URs count, but ALL URs should count, not just some of some skaters.

Selective UR calls as usual. Panel appears to be stricter this year but they chose who they're strict with :palmf:

I wonder why Alina looked so tentative today. She was slower and her jumps didn't have their usual bounce. I hope she's feeling ok.

From what I can tell, her practices were spectacular so I think it is nerves. She always struck me as the nervy type. She is the most talented senior lady IMO, but may still have some confidence issues. I think keeping her Don Quixote for Olympic season was a genius decision by her coaching staff. You could tell she was so comfortable skating it, even Olympic pressure couldn't get to her. I suspect we will see a much more confident Carmen as the season progresses. She was tight and slower today, but when she is more comfortable with the program, I think she will be on fire.

A lot of skaters got URs calls. I do think Alina should have gotten a few more URs but other than that the calls were fair. She did UR.

What am I to do?
I am a fan of both Kaori and Zhenya. Kaori's bronze here helps Zhenya by placing her above Kaori if she gets silver with 214+ (tall order) but hurts Kaori herself. Why can't both make the final? :ddevil:

On what basis do you accuse judges of impropriety?

While Alina won she looked shakey - with the big combo. Maybe the body changes are making the jumps harder. Interesting that Stanislova might knock out Egenia out of the GPF.

Ah Kaori got the edge call on the Lutz as well. It is truly a contrast going through Alina and Kaori's protocols and then seeing Konstantinova's. Sigh.

The more I see Alina skate now, the more I miss her Don Quixote program, but I think Carmen has potential. It just needs more speed and confidence. It's why I wish the PCS was more honest. There's so much room for this program to grow this early in the season. I just see no reason to be giving her 9s on skating skills now when she can skate this better later on.

Yes - I didn't follow her until her Senior debut, so I keep forgetting that she had Don Quixote as her LP for 2 seasons.

People, why do you reject the decision of the judges? On what basis do you do this? Why did you decide that you are in charge?

I love both, too. But 214 is a big, big score... At least both still have chances. Who else is a contender for GPF? Alina obviously, Liza and Satoko which we‘ll see next week who already have a gold. Rika also next week. Kaori, Evgenia. Somebody else I forgot? Stasya has a silver, can she get another medal at her second event? Sofia has a bronze, maybe if she could get a silver ?? I‘m really bad at calculating, please help me.
