Vincent is in deep sh!t with the ur calls. 9 times out of 10 when a skater gets a reputation for ur calls the judges are like a dog with a bone-they don’t let go. Sure nationals have a reputation for being overly generous but with his poor showing on the gp circuit I’m not sure why they would want too. Although they did boost Karen after her train wreck season last year so idk. But I think Jason, unless we see an unraveling like last year has a world spot with his name on it. He seems more and more confident every time he competes and although he seriously needs to increase his jump content his strategy of super high quality elements(and probably counting on other guys to make mistakes let’s just be real) is paying off. Gosh just imagine him with a consistent quad! I really really hope he gets it

It really is best for Camden to go to a diffferent coach.

Max had so much potential and Tom really wasted that and feel like he is now doing it to Camden.

Maybe Raf as he can work on his jumps and that is his main problem.

Please tell me one elite US coach whose students do not have under rotation issues. Nathan is with RAF but his other students have issues.

To be fair those students had jump issues before they moved to Raf and it seems lke their jumps improved with him. Adam, for example, stabilized his 3 Axel.

It is hardly a shock that someone coached by Gambill has issues with jumps. Look at her "record": Caroline Zhang, Brendan Kerry, Karen Chen. Promising skaters who had issues with jumps (and before karne comes at me, Kerry did indeed have issues when he was with her). Goodness knows why she's allowed to coach further. Well, by "goodness knows" I mean "USFS politics can diaf".

I don't understand why you would blame a coach for skater's poor rotations. Do you blame the teachers when their students fail a test?

I don't understand this analogy. The coach is more like a tutor than a teacher.

He and Tomoki are aging out of juniors and have no choice but to move up next season.

The coach is supposed to train the student's technique properly. You can hardly use a classroom analogy here. They indeed have technical issues that cause their problems, and I don't think they learned it themselves.

Out of interest though, why would you blame the student for poor rotation?

But that doesn’t answer the question, who is the man not named Nathan Chen who is a better *prospect* at Nationals?

All this back & forth has made me look up Vincent Zhou's best scores : 234.25 at Tallinn Trophy.
Ok, as long Jason keeps healthy, improve his stamina in LP - in France he had problems with the jumps in 2nd half, at Golden Spin he conserve his energy for the last 3 jumps.

Same reason Jason Brown's improvement in jumps is credited to his new coaching team? Esp the 3A since his current coach is Mr 3A. Mr Triple Axel will make sure all his students jump the Axel correctly, be it 2A(Evgenia) or 3A.

I would love to see Camden go to someone like Raf and have him work on his jumps with him. I don't have much faith in Tom Z and less so with Tammy Gambill.

Is there really any question as to whether or not Jason will go to Worlds? I'm more interested in who gets the 3rd spot. I was really hoping Camden would get Bronze and go to both Sr. and Jr. worlds, but last night surely didn't help his case. I would love to see Alexei as well but it seems that he is still rebuilding from his injury, so it's anybody's guess what tech content we'll see at Nationals. Vincent's issues are clear, but he does tend to do better in the second half of the season. Nationals tech callers are not going to be doing him any favors though by ignoring or being lenient on URs--nor will they be helping the US Men retain 3 spots.

How is Alexei doing health wise? Is he back to 100%? I feel like we haven't really seen him this fall.

The 3rd spot will be interesting. I do see Nathan and Jason as 1 + 2 right now, 3 is up for grabs. The judges at nationals did Vincent no favors last season. Alexei and Camden are wildcards, but Camden is wildly inconsistent and Alexei is still rebuilding. I think the 3rd person won't matter that much on the World team because if Jason or Nathan falter at Worlds, I don't see the #3 saving 3 spots like Max did last year.
