She probably is of Korean descent, judging by her surname, so maybe her parents decided to celebrate their heritage this way. Can't blame them, Yuna's skating is hypnotizing, but the girl has big skates to fill now.So a Russian girl, born after Sochi Olympics, named after Yuna Kim?
Thank you so much for the link. I love Sir Humphrey and only expect to learn anything in the fullness of time or at the appropriate juncture.Sir Humphrey (and Lenin) would say: "Everything is connected with everything else."
They couldn't resist to confront TT and AoP...JGP Kosice (Aug 31st - Sep 4th) Adelia Petrosian and Veronika Zhilina (again!)
Remember those lists are preliminary and can quickly change from one week to another.Im shocked Zhilina got a 2nd one without rusfed seeing how she does in the 1st one after last season. Im assuming she must have been impressive in practice this summer. Tho i do think if she doesnt do well in her 1st assigment this one does go away. We finally have a TT girl on the list, but still no Daria S or Sofia A on sub lists.
Zhilina getting a 2nd event already is a bit surprising. I expected RusFed to give first 3 or 4 events to different girls and then assign second event to the ones that performed the best. Maybe it will change after test skates, but even if the spots are provisional, I don't understand why it was Zhilina who was chosen to hold two already.

Though, if Daria won't get a spot while Veronika was rewarded by two I'll be probably angry.
I don’t think the federation put as much thought into the selection yet. Remember, the test skates did not happen, so their only knowledge is how each skater skated six months ago. As long as they submit a big enough group of skaters to be able to choose two decent skaters for each event, I don’t think they cared who they wrote on each spot and who is the alternate. There are no rules to make them to stick to those preliminary lists anyway.Agree, especially considering Zhilina has a habit of underperforming at competitions. Or maybe the Fed is hoping that with the provisional 2 spots it will help her competition mindset and that given her talent they are willing to risk the spots and see it she can work through her competition problems
Junior test skates schedule:
Junior ladies groups:
Ш in cyrillic is "sh" so it is Shirayeva she finished 6th at Elder Age Champs. (Ulyana Shirayeva) she is listed as an alternate for 2 JGP's (JGP France I and JGP Slovakia)Who is the 5th skater in Group 2? Wiryaeva? What does the "W" stand for?
I just corrected my post right when you posted! I went and studied Russian Cyrillic alphabet and figured out the "SH". Interesting, I don't remember her at all. But thank you! It's hard reading these names!!Ш in cyrillic is "sh" so it is Shirayeva she finished 6th at Elder Age Champs. Still it's kind of weird seeing Zhilina listed twice and Eteri girls just once alltogether so far.. I hope Sadkova will do well in test skates..On junior level, it doesn’t really matter who is on the list.
