Yeah, I think Nika’s potential is very high, and she along with 2 Sofias has some top notch jumping and all around talent. Nika is behind them in terms of PCS, but she’s also younger than both of them, so she has time to catch up.
It makes more sense to invest into Nika’s development, then some other skaters right now, as they are not likely to get any ultra-c jumps, and Nika’s natural jumping talent is insane. As I said, if I had to think who could be a world champion at some point in the future, I would put my bets on Nika rather than some other skaters, who won over Nika last season.

Interestingly enough, my favorite programs from test skates today were all repeats from last season: Sofia M, Liza B, Adelia, and Alina :laugh:

I did really enjoy Frolova and Akatieva as well, their programs look like they have a lot of potential!

Sofia S's program was nice but forgettable and I didn't love Daria's either.

Veronika...love the girl, but that program is something else. Honestly though, to me it seemed like she was performing a little more than she usually does which was nice to see, but if she's going to play an iconic character like Harley Quinn, she needs to be over the top or else it just won't work. Can't say I'm looking forward to watching that all season, but that 3A-3T more than made up for it :love2:
 
Anna Frolova stole the show at test skates 💜 Her music is really cool, finally she gets something more unique than bland-orchestral-music-n°87.mp3, and wow, what a transformation ! Her presence, the precision of the choreography and her movements... I loved it, I can't wait to see more of this program as it grows throughout the season :D

I love Harley Quinn so I loved Nika's program. The hairstyle and the outfit are cute, her jumps are amazeballs as always, the choreo is fun. Her interpretation has improved too, she's not there yet but I think it's a good move from her team to push her with a program that commands her to emote more. It will take time, especially with her competition nerves but I'm confident she can surprise us :)

I liked Sofia S's new program, I think it suits her style well - more than Akatieva's. The two musics are definitely very similar and not extremely original, but it's still better than Lara Fabian x___x or that weird atrocious thing that was Daria Sadkova's music, dear Zeus O.o'

Overall despite mistakes it was just so nice to see them all again ^O^ Super excited for the free skates tomorrow, best of luck to all of them o/

Frolova was surprisingly my favorite too! it was such an interesting program.
 
If anyone finds any re-posts on youtube from the ladies short program (whether from channel one themselves or whoever else), can you put up the links here? (Or maybe in the competition thread?) The part of the stream I saw was pretty low quality, as I suspect it was for others too. (And jeez Louise, the "notification" sound every few seconds...!)
 
Just catched up. What a wonderful first run for the girls that was.

Great to see Gorbachëva again. She had an unfortunate season last year.

Zhilina was great, but she really doesn't skate to the music does she?

The surprise though was Frolova. She is older than the others, and it shows, her maturity was supreme today. She really was unlucky last season - no international competitions to get that SB score so she could have gone senior this season.
Frolova has always given me the grandma vibes, but here she seemed secure, more polished, and it showed she has been working on the details. Her I-spin (Y-spin?) has always looked a bit ugly, but here she had her head tilted that made it all look a bit more avant-garde. Well done Anna!

Idk, I thought that she stood out the most because it’s different. And her step sequence is so unique! Do agree that she’ll need to perform more but I think she just needs time honestly. Some kids have a really hard time growing into performance personality, and emotion. I think she’s one of them.

The other girls’ programs… omg why are they trying to put me to sleep?! Poor Sofia A., her program looks like TT ran out of ideas and just mashed a Zhenya and Anna program together to new music. She has so much more starpower and I don’t see it at all.

I wasn't a huge fan of it last year, perhaps I like it a bit better this year, but I think they could have done better. As to the others, a few programs bored me to death music wise, Loved Sophia M except for the gun shot at the end, and i would like to see the end of lengthy spoken words in programs. It is going to be interesting to see how these girls are distributed over the JGP. Will the Zhilina sister get a JGP? Her skating skills are a bit sub standard, but that 4T. I will be upset if Maria Z. is locked out, she looks solid. My feeling is that Liza B. may not get a JGP assignment. Which skaters will get 2 assignments and compete for the JGP final? (Sophia A and Sophia S certainly, Zhilina already has 2,....)

Both Maria Z and Liza B have already 1 jgp assignment each.

I really liked it too! I thought it was very fun and age appropriate. Not something I'd say about Harley Quinn but her styling and the choreography really sold it.

She was adorable with the hair and costume.
 
I have a feeling i will really enjoy Liza B.'s performance qualities but despise her choreography. Can't wait for a brand new Russian choreographer to pop up with new ideas and interesting moves but keep it beautiful and not so jumbled.
Ksenia's sp from 2 seasons ago was SO awesome, and that "nights in winter forest" [???] lp from the former Panova girl was also lovely.
