In the musical choices announced so far, the classic war horses are quite distinctly absent. The first Olympic season since the 1970s without any Carmens? Will be interesting to see what the final tally will be on that.
However, the lists for women and men are filled with all the current fashionable choices and the rest seems just more of the same. Not much of it is in any way interesting and I am finding it very hard to get excited about the next 11 months in skating. The only things so far I find myself feeling slightly curious about are Matteo's Johnny Cash SP and Eva-Lotta's Brazilian piece.

^ No PotO, Roxanne or Carmen yet, but for me Les Mis, Schindler and Swan Lake are just as bad... It could have been worse, but I am not too jubilant.
And for the OP updater- I'm quite sad to say that my favorite skater Sota Yamamoto isn't skating his SP to 'Anthem' anymore, but to Bolton's version of 'Yesterday'. Words can't express my disappointment. How I dislike Beatles and their covers in skating, with the exceptions of Adam and Nam.

Maybe, but any points they might get for that have to be balanced out by their FS choice. Fix You—IMHO barely tolerable in the original, dreadful in a cover (which this is)
So far it’s still Muramoto/Takahashi’s RD music for the win!

I prefer the Nine Inch Nails version, but I'm intrigued to see how Rizzo will skate to it.
I prefer Cash's version, and honestly they are 2 completely different songs because of the different styles of Nine Inch Nails vs. Johnny Cash

Thanks for posting them together to make it easier to compare. Johnny Cash's version is amazing. It's rare I like the cover more than the original, but in this case...wow. I hadn't heard his version in a while, and this makes me even more eager to see Matteo's program.
