This thread is going to erupt with "it's discrimination against Russians" if that happens. I cannot wait.Yeah, I have to say, I fully expect Alysa to beat Alyona at Skate Canada. I'd bet money on it.
Thankfully, a lot of us are not that nationalistically oriented hereThis thread is going to erupt with "it's discrimination against Russians" if that happens. I cannot wait.

I doubt it. If Alysa beats Alena, it's because the former was much better technically. If Alena is hitting her jumps, she's capable of earning GOE that almost none of the others can. Remembering her choreography will also help. This thread is going to erupt with "it's discrimination against Russians" if that happens. I cannot wait.
What about Alysa beating Valieva for the gold, or that dream died already? This thread is going to erupt with "it's discrimination against Russians" if that happens. I cannot wait.
Still, better than some threads where one must take a walk of atonement if they don't accept their subjecthood for a queen with no clothes. This thread is going to erupt with "it's discrimination against Russians" if that happens. I cannot wait.
Aliona landed an 3A 2021 test skates -FS ... the same for Alysa Lui when was the last time she landed a 3A without ur, step, etc ... not even in 2020 .. the only true difficult field for her in the last year was USA championship .. and she lost for a skater without 3A...When was the last time Aliona landed a 3A? Has she even landed one for the past 2 years? When was her last successful 3A? 2020 Europeans?
Lol bye
Funny you say this, I just rewatched the top 3 at that event this morning. And while Ting was the most impressive in skating skills and technique, once you factor in the content, I thought Anna overall was better than Trusova and looked like the winner. In fact, I'd probably upgrade her junior world silver to a junior world gold...

what?Still, better than some threads where one must take a walk of atonement if they don't accept their subjecthood for a queen with no clothes. An interview may prove otherwise, of course
Didn't know that was a competition, but sure. She landed one at test skates less than a month ago.
Yep. She actually used to rotate her 4Lz more than Trusova too, in that season (both prerotated beyond what was allowed, although Trusova improved on that by the next season - just that Anna got it around more). Better overall skater too, of course. Trusova... got reputation pointsFunny you say this, I just rewatched the top 3 at that event this morning. Can happen of course.Yeah, I have to say, I fully expect Alysa to beat Alyona at Skate Canada. I'd bet money on it.
Agreed on that but honestly, Liu is far and away the top US female skater. Like, there's not even a competition. And they will be pushing hard for her, as seen by the debut PCS she got. I only expect her scores to rise. Russia‘s not the only one who can play that game and Aliona especially is very vulnerable right now. She had a disastrous last season and underperformed at Finlandia Trophy, so I‘m not sure how much backing she‘ll continue to get by the judges. Finlandia was handing out personal bests to everyone and their grandmothers and yet she only got like 68 PCS in the FS (not that she deserved more but they easily could have, considering how lenient they were scoring). Obviously, I want her to make the podium and I think, if in better shape than she’s been so far, she‘s still clearly the better skater, but I can‘t pretend that I‘m not seriously worried. If she loses to Alysa… I don‘t know if she can even come back from that.Would be interesting if Liu can shoot for Silver at SC. I was thinking bronze edging out Liza is the max she can hope for. Both Liza and Aliona have to falter for silver to happen.

I think a few of Trusova's junior gold medals could have been given to Aliona too. They barely had a pcs difference when Aliona was the much more artistic skater at those competitions.Funny you say this, I just rewatched the top 3 at that event this morning. Alysa landed three 3a on the JGP and at two successive US Nationals. She has grown five inches since then, but her 3a is now retooled for her new body and is bigger and better. Underestimate Liu at your own peril.Has Alysa ever landed 3 clean 3a in 1 competition? And even if she has, it would have likely been 2 years ago. At the moment the most she can muster is 1 clean 3a in a competiton whereas Elizaveta has just landed 3 in one just a few wks ago
JGPF 2017! It‘s a hill I choose to die on.I think a few of Trusova's junior gold medals could have been given to Aliona too. They barely had a pcs difference when Aliona was the much more artistic skater at those competitions.
But that was back when quads were still a complete novelty in the women‘s field, so I guess some "bonus" for attempting them could be expected. I also remember thinking that Anna should have won JWC 2019.
