I'm back from watching 36 senior women's long program!!

Our Canadian women are still nowhere near the quality of the Americans but there were a few good performances.

1. Amelie Lacoste 134.30 (89.72 free) - great presentation and good attack. I've liked Amelie since I saw her win the Jr title at 2005 Canadians, she had a wider variety of triples then. Today she did 3lp/2lp/2lp, 3s, 3s/2t, 3lp, 2a and came 2nd in the free.
2. Cynthia Phaneuf 129.47 (87.95 free) - still lacking confidence but good attack on jumps, beautiful spins and a great presence on the ice. She isn't as fast as she used to be but still very good speed when compared to her competitors here. She did a great 3lz in warm-up but fell on it in the program. She landed 3lp, 3f, 3t, 2a/2a sequence, she fell on 3s as well.
3. Diane Szmiett 127.29 (90.31 free) - she was 18th in short but won the freeskate. Did a nice job skating to "pretty" music. She landed 3lz/2t, 3t/2t/2t, 3s, 3t, 2a-2a sequence, fell on 3f.
4. Jessica Dube 125.38 (77.62 free) - bad performance only landed 3s-2a sequence but she still grabs your attention.
5. Mylene Brodeur 123.32 (85.64 free) - skated to Lennon's "Imagine". Landed 2a/2t, 3lp (hand), 3t/2t, 3t/2t/2lp, fell on 3s
6. Myriane Samson 122.24 (74.82 free) - landed 2 3lzs & a 3s-2f sequence
7. Erika Tisluck 121.95 (82 free) - landed 3f/2t, 3lp/2t and had nice spirals
8. Erin Scherrer 121.53
9. Devon Neuls 118.67 (71.01 free) - was 2nd in short, fell apart in long, warm up was great
10. Kathryn Kang 116.97 (76.21 free) - first time I've seen her, I can see why Skate Canada sends her to competitions she is very polished and can land the hard jumps. Today she landed 3lz, 3t, 3s (2 ft), 2a-2t sequence, really nice layback.
11. Kristen Walker 114.55
12. Dana Zhalko-Tytarenko 111.64
13. Brittany Novakowski 110.73
14. Katherine de Repentigny 110.25
15. Marie Eve Lavigne 111.10
I think all of these women will join Joannie, Mira and Leslie at Canadians.

I couldn't sit through 37 ladies LP especially since I was there when the men started. First time at a skating competition. I skipped the 3rd and 4th groups of women b/c I was falling asleep!

Good to see Cynthia get a loop and flip done in the same program. I think the last time she did that might have been sometime in 2004.
Thanks for the report!

DITTO, SC is so slow :sheesh::disapp::scratch::mad::frown2::scowl:in getting results posted, it I really appreciate it when you guys provide the info :bow::clap::clap:

I am sooooooo glad CP made it to Nationals but more so that she made it with a strong performance that looks like she could get a podium finish or at least make the team......:bow::)

what happened to Liz Putnam?

Liz Putnam got 71.43 in LP and a 109.55 overall. Don't know her exact placement b/c I missed 2 groups.

Cynthia was already qualified to nationals due to her grand prix assignment at Skate Canada. She chose to skate at challenge just for the experiene.

Too bad Jessica (Dubé) had difficulty in the long, but considering all the competitions for pairs this fall (3GP and the GPF this coming week/weekend) she's done with Bryce, congrats to her for maintaining her singles skills and advancing to Nationals!!!

Myriane Samson is not having a good season at all. I hope she can pull it off at the nationals.
