I am not sure. Butsaeva’s interview gave me the feeling that they would go on attack mode with Erokhov next season. But we can never know in the ever-changing landscape of figure-skating. Cup Final is like a must if he wants home spot on GP and National team…
Well, I am all for attack mode. I actually stocked up my whiskey cabinet as soon as I read the words "four", "quads", and "free skate" in the same sentence. Still, a small international competition probably wouldn't hurt with the nerves and as a confidence boost.

In other news, even though we tried to make Mozalenko happen, looks like Kondratenko is canon now. :ROFLMAO: The lads seem to have a lot of fun, I am glad they enjoy their Olympic experience under the circumstances. Hopefully Andrei turns up in the cheer box during the team FS so we can have full-on Modratenko. :p

Iirc it’s Kondralev, but yeah, I think the focus atm is on Kondratyuk since he is fighting for that Olympic gold with the team 🙌🍀🕯

Good luck to Mark tomorrow. So much pressure on him right now
Mark has produced under pressure several times this season. He got the third spot for Russia at the Nebelhorn trophy, he is Russian champion, European champion and he was great in the SP, when the pressure was even higher. The worst he can be in the FP is 5th and I am confident that he will have a great performance with his wonderful FP.

But the way things are going, the difference between 4th and 5th in the men's FS could mean the difference between silver and gold for Team Russia. This will be a nail-biter, but the guys can do it (both on the ice and cheering and supporting in the K&C).
We don´t know which teams will be in the final before the ladies have skated. So it´s difficult to say what place is realistic for Mark to get. If he has a cleanish skate and it´s only 5th, he has still done a good job because men´s is considered Russia´s weekness. Most people were afraid that the Russian man would bomb the SP and ruin the gold for the rest of the team. So right now it was more a problem that S/K were only second behind H/D. And that M/G were beaten by 0.20 points, but it was expected to be difficult for them to beat S/H. I´m still quite optimistic that Russia will win gold. And now I hope that Mark can repeat his FP from Europeans.

The 3 Russian men at the Olympics are hardly out of juniors. 2 years ago you would expected the team to be Kolyada, Samarin and Aliev. But they had problems with injuries, sickness and inconsistency. So now all hope lies on three 18-year-old kids who deserve our full support.
