Ugh, the shallow edges and lack of ice coverage that Davis/Smolkin bring to their ice dancing should not be rewarded by this panel. They need to learn to get deeper in their edges and make their overall skating grander. I’m sure the panel will overmark them though.

Eurosport guy just said they had lovely edge quality .

But yeah...they've never been to World's and it's the first senior season. They might have been thrown into the big time too soon...

Johnny says Davis/Smolkin were "neat and clean"...? I thought this was pretty solid for them but she didn't seem entirely over her feet/into the ice at times during the program. Should go into first though.

DAVIS Diana / SMOLKIN Gleb (ROC)

Some good moments in there. Very strong twizzles and a fast rotational lift with that around-the-neck entry. They just need more power and speed through all the step sequences - the GOE on those elements are really holding them back. I liked their energy to the "Boom! Boom! Boom!" music, though I think they could really have pumped their moves harder to that beat.

They're build for light and classical. Anything that requires sass or sex appeal is a struggle for them. But, my god, when they're in their element

Yeah, their FD is one of the best of the season and their RD one of the worst. I just wish their team hadn’t failed them on the RD but not everyone manages even one truly great program, so..,

I'm no expert but I actually find their skating skills including edgework quite good, certainly compared to the prior teams. For me it's the whole package that needs improvement.

I don't dislike the program, but they weren't hitting hard enough for hip hop. A lot of the ice dance teams have the same problem and end up giving less 'hip-hop' and more 'white suburban middle school talent show'
