That is the interpretation of the person who witnessed it. It could just as easily have been her speaking strongly to Trusova. Eteri can’t leave her there, and it really was in Trusova’s best interest to get out of the limelight.

I just want to know if Kamila is ok. Will she go home to her family now? Is someone there for her after all of this? I’m gutted for her. And for Sasha. And for Anna who looked genuinely sad for Kamila.
This isn’t an Olympic Games that will be remembered for anything other than heartbreak and drama. Something needs to change.

I have to agree 100%..
Trusova was immaculate.
I don't think it was close.

finally got to see NBC's replay of the FS and am pretty much at a loss for words except...

Indeed. Absolutely awful.Just got done watching the Ladies event holywhat a shit show. Eteri needs to be banned from the sport forever look at what she has done. But hey she has another Olympic gold medal so it's all worth it right.
My mom said after watching this that she didn’t think Eteri had done right by any of these girls. To be clear- I don’t think she really knew who Eteri was until tonight. She was just appalled.
I agree with her. And from a lot of what I’ve read in the aftermath- that’s a common sentiment.
Generally when a coaches students go 1-2 (again!), you’d expect a gush fest of sorts. Not so much.
This feels like an in your face, very public look at the price of her “success.”
Apparently Kami said after her scores came up… but now the ceremony won’t be cancelled

Maybe Eteri forgot to tell her she needed to also not step out of her 4T, turn out of her 2A+3T, and UR fall on her 3A.

I watched Kamila skate again, and actually have to say that this Bolero was the most expressive I have seen her. It is a pity the jumps did not work out, but I thought she skated with a passion and fire which I had not seen before. Maybe it was desperation and despair, I don't know. But I actually felt that I saw Kamila's full range of expression come out, and I actually think she was quite angry at the end for making those mistakes. I did not get the sense that she gave up at all during the program, contrary to what her coach said. Also, as critical as we are of Eteri, and whatever wrong Eteri may have done to Kamila and these other girls, I do think she, Sergei and Danill were trying to comfort and cheer up Kamila after the scores came up. They definitely spent more time with her trying to get her to laugh, and that is part of the reason why we saw Anna standing awkwardly by herself when she was declared the OGM.
I am hoping we see Kamila again, after she has time to process everything and recover. I still think Kamila is an extraordinary, once in a lifetime talent.

I am an unapologetic Sasha fan, but I had to defend her to my family who are four-year fans. It did look brattish. I agree with the theory that Sasha was slated to skate in the team event, therefore winning a nearly guaranteed gold. Eteri pulled her out and put Kamilla Valieva in both skates, but she said if you land five quads in your program, no one will be able to touch you and you willl win gold in the individual competition. That would explain Sasha lashing out at Eteri. Also, remember before the scandal, Valieva was vaunted as being the first woman to land a quad at the Olympics. That would have been Sasha.
Somehow I was able to go into radio/internet silence so watched it primetime NBC even tho had DVR’d it. (It wasn’t easy! I didn’t go on any websites all day, but my work computer is a dedicated computer with its own intranet so even if I used Google, I’m anonymous and no skating news was going to pop up!)
Before I saw the skate, I figured Valieva would throw the skate intentionally. What else could she do? If she hadn’t, she would be denying her teammates, Mother Russia, and Eteri medals. If Eteri had pulled her, Eteri would be admitting she had injested the drug.
What a disaster.
On the plus side, I’m an old rock and roll/punk fan. I would never have believed someone would skate to the Stooges/Iggy Pop I Wanna Be Your Dog in the Olympics (even if it was a cover from a Disney movie; if you had told me the ‘70s that I Wanna Be Your Dog would be in a Disney movie, I would have said you were nuts too!) Again, this is why I don’t watch women’s skating. Music is usually just “pretty.” It’s never edgy. I also realize that this is pretty much out of the wheelhouse of the typical skating fan.
Sasha is forever a bada**. She landed FIVE QUADS! That won’t be remembered, though.

Kaori was the one highlight of the evening. The Kamila drama has really put a cloud of suspicion over all of Eteri's skaters in my eyes. I say that with a lot of sadness because Kamila was my favorite skater this season.
Privacy
There´s a lot to say about the judging system, but regarding Sasha the judges have been consistently telling her she can´t win major competitions just relying on her messy quads. So no reason to be so outraged imo.
