The Russian Skating Union, Figure Skating Federation of Russia, Semen Elistratov, Angelika Golikova,
Evgenia Tarasova & Vladimir Morozov have filed an
appeal with CAS against the ISU’s ban on Russian athletes. They seek annulment of the decision.
Whether that means they plan to compete, I don't know but it's certainly rich coming from them.
Also, this isn't skating but Listunova and Urazova attended, who are both 16/17 and most definitely planning to compete in the coming seasons. Melnikova, meanwhile, by far their biggest star in Tokyo, older and more likely to retire, wasn't there. Where's the logic in that? So, either they purposefully only chose older skaters in figure skating while not applying that logic to other sports, or T/M and S/K were the only skaters to accept.
As for Urgant, yes, I believe his show was canceled, that's why Shcherbakova's last segment never got aired. I don't have a ton of information on him but from what I've heard, his protests were much more vocal than simply not attending a war rally. So, obviously there are limits; often quite harsh ones, too. I don't think more needs to be said about this, everyone has heard or seen repercussions in the media.
All I was saying is that some tried to subtly show they were against the war, while others attended war rallies and appeared to be quite proud to do so, too. And unlike Listunova and Urazova, S/K and T/M aren't teenagers either, they
know what they're doing. So, given all these arguments, I see no reason why we should be making excuses for them. None at all.
