i wonder what Ashley Cain's plans are. she has been posting a lot of single skating on her instagram the last few weeks.
There are reports that Timothy has moved to Chicago. Apparently, their partnership is over. Too sad. Time passes too quickly. I wish there had been a better and happier end to their wonderful partnership. There hasn't been any official announcements yet though.

Ash has posted pictures on her Instagram at a training camp she attended with her father in Indiana. Danny O'Shea, Brian Johnson, Chris Knierim, and A.J. Reiss were part of the team at the camp, passing on their expertise to a new generation of U.S. pairs skaters:

Meanwhile, Alexa Knierim celebrated her 30th birthday. It looks like she had fun on the SOI tour. In her birthday post, she says, "I'm excited for what's next." I'm glad she's excited. Maybe soon, we'll find out if her plans involve continuing to skate with Brandan, or moving ahead with new adventures. It's probably the latter.

The only report I've seen about Chicago is one unsourced post in another place, but Timothy has been sadly noticeable by their absence in Ashley's social media postings from the rink.

IF (and since it is unconfirmed who knows?) Timothy is in Chicago, and IF they want to stay in skating, it would be wonderful (in my mind) if they went to Fox Valley with Rohene and Stefania Berton. :)

I guess one of the things I forgot about that makes everything seem so abrupt is that the past two seasons have not been normal. For the most part, skaters have not had the chance to skate regular, full seasons. I suppose that adds to the feeling of abruptness. This is especially true for Jessica and Brian who simply had their momentum stopped in 2020, and then bad luck in 2021 leading into the Olympic season with the cosmetics snafu that contained a substance which morphed into a banned substance, without any way for Jessica to know that was happening simply via eye makeup. Anyway, it was rather difficult for C/J to manage these setbacks, even though they did a yeoman job of regrouping and continuing forward with positivity.

I believe it was mentioned in a split/ country switch thread that Winter Deardorff is partnered with Australian skater, Ryan Dodds and will represent Australia. That's so nice for Winter and I wish her well!

Keyton Bearinger has split with Sydney Cooke and is now partnered with Linzy Fitzpatrick (and per their Instagrams, it's clear that Linzy/Keyton are also a couple off-the-ice). Good luck to them! ❤️

I doubt that Ashley is ever going to leave her parents as her chief coaches should she decide to continue skating. Brubaker/ Berton are wonderful coaches. Why did you not mention Rockne? I know Rohene works with their teams on choreo, etc.

Regarding possible splits and lack of announcements one way or the other, I guess that's the way it is these days in the era of rampant social media. Information gets spread randomly and rapidly that way, along with the usual rumors and speculation, sometimes inaccurately. So, it seems that a lot of skaters often prefer these days to say nothing (and to keep their social media posts cryptic), maybe because there's always too much chatter everywhere. Even though there were dedicated skating forums that began in the late 90s, the avalanche of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, et al. have come much later to the rumor and speculation party.

^^
Speaking of which, I've been wondering off and on about Nica Digerness and Mark Sadusky. I think there were a few clips of them training previously, but I haven't seen much discussion about them. I began to wonder if they were still together, especially since there's never been any official announcement of their paring. I wonder if they are still training in Colorado? Probably, but perhaps they aren't with Sappenfield anymore.

So I went to Nica's Instagram to see if she'd posted anything in awhile. Lo and behold, Nica and Mark are looking pretty good from what I see. I guess they've been busy working hard together and that's why they didn't try to rush competing at Nationals in January. Do we have another Aliona and Robin blossoming? 😍 A girl (and a pairs fan) can dream eh! Mark and Nica apparently skated in a holiday show last fall too. I look forward to seeing them compete. Fingers crossed they keep developing and become a strong pair. Looks like U.S. pairs will be interesting with new teams joining remaining pairs to vie for the three spots that are available for Worlds next year. (y)

Working on a triple twist with a spotter. From the cheers, it seems as if this move was in the early stages of development, and it was coming along well with the rotations, despite the contact on landing. Since this clip was posted last October, they must be further along by now?

Nice pics from the holiday show:

I was typing too fast, and of course it is Stefania and Rockne. Stefania has the IG account, not that she posts that often, so she just came to mind. :)

Ashley was part of the coaching team for this pairs camp. What I'm happy about is that she's already actively involved in sharing her pairs expertise and passion with others. That, and the joy in her skating apparent in her IG posts. Everything she's doing shows she's actively working through and making the happiest and best use of her experiences.

I'm very sad that there's radio silence about Ashley and Timothy, because it seems to indicate that there's tension, to say the least, but then again we don't know. Like you, I want(ed) a happy, triumphant celebration of their truly beautiful and ground-breaking partnership. Maybe it will still come; it's not impossible. #AlwaysHope.

ETA: And to quote @el henry, Just Like That! 😍

Not a big deal, but Alexa's 31. (born 6-10-91). Alexa made it a bit confusing, but what she said was that "30 was pretty special."

Ash and Tim have announced their retirement. I will very much miss them, they were a special team.

Timothy has moved to Chicago and Ashley will be skating in shows and coaching.

Wow, it seems like US pairs is practically starting from scratch next season. Best wishes to all the teams that are coming up! <3.

So Phil Hersh tweeted that he has heard that Alexa and Brandon are currently planning on doing the Grand Prix season.

(So is Mariah Bell, but that belongs in another thread.)

So they won't skate in shows together?

I told yall!

Timothy said in the video (1:36) "and we're gonna try to do some ice shows in the future, so be on the look-out for that."

If anyone didn't make it thru the full 2 minutes of this lovely message, hop to the last 15 seconds for more of Ashley/Tim's fabled unison. :)

Timmy Chapman is here in Webster Groves. Had a lovely conversation with him. He has a partner. They have not made an announcement so I won’t say. But they will be competing Junior Pairs.
