Dance GOE is applied differently to elements. Although I didn't know they could get 6 as I understand it, the GOE is added directly rather than as a percentage of what the element is worth (like in the other disciplines).

So you can get more GOE than the element is actually worth in ice dance.

And wow! Into first!

Specifically, choreo elements in dance (and singles/pairs) is applied differently. In the singles/pairs choreo sequence, a +1 mark from the judges equates to .5 GOE, so the max is 3 points of GOE. The choreo rhythm dance is similar, except the max score is 7. So, it's not percentage-based like other elements, but +1/+2 has a set point value that is then averaged between all of the judges to calculate the total GOE score.
