2024 European Championships Women's Free Skate

Chris commented about Josefin being one of the oldest skaters here. And so I checked. And I discovered something.

We have 6 skaters that were born in the 1990's competing in this Free Skate segment. And four of them are going back-to-back in this group:

#8 Josefin TALJEGARD (1995)
#9 Emmi PELTONEN (1999)
#10 Aleksandra GOLOVKINA (1998)
#11 Nina POVEY (1994)

The other two are:

#14 Julia SAUTER (1997)
#22 Loena HENDRICKX (1999)

A quarter of the field is actually more than I expected.

Josefin was amazing! She knows how to PERFORM. And jumps mostly looked good too.


And she's a proof that non-blondes are allowed to skate in Scandinavia after all

I love Josefin!

The Swedish Olympic Fed still deserves a kick in the butt for not letting her use the Olympic spot she earned!

She was sent to the Olympics, actually, together with Majorov Jr. Maybe the backlash due to the exclusion of Majorov sr four years prior contributed to the decision.

Great stats!
I still internally hope for Carolina Kostner's return for Milano-Cortina 2026.
That we would have also some 80's representation.
But very very very late 80's

She was really off with a bad start but recovered really well

Emmi does this program with just the right attitude for a tango. Wonderful expression! I just wish her jumps wouldn't have betrayed her, I'd really like to see her do it cleanly and with full power.

Too many downgraded elements, but okay overall, especially considering her struggles this season. Call it a 'defensive win'.
Still, I love her presentation, but this is not my favourite Emmi program, it doesn't 'open' for me.

Emmi. Pretty red dress. A few mistakes, but she ended strong.

Good that Emmi pulled herself together after a weak start of the program. Imagine how fabulous the impression would be had all jumps went as planned. The choreography and Emmi are exquisite.

Emmi is still missing world TES while there are others who have it but she still has several comps before - but I doubt you won't see her there.

Shame with the mistakes, I guess her TES will go down a little, a really good oppurtunity for Golovkina to try get the World mins, she needs both in the SP and FS.
