2024 Canadian Nationals Senior Free Dance

TD Place ARENA has about 8,600 seats (which is where the non-audience Nationals took place in 2022). It's the TD Place STADIUM where the CFL team Ottawa Redblacks play that holds 24,000 seats.
I knew i needed help :) but still, 3000 seats seem small for Nationals in Calgary.

I think I went to Nationals at TD Place Arena in 2016 .... 8600 makes sense.

Why are there such few people? Are people just not interested in figure skating in Canada anymore?
It's a really small crowd if I imagine that most skaters have some friends or family with them.

It's Calgary. I guess people don't want to travel there during the winter. :) It was jam packed in Ottawa when i went a few years ago in a venue almost 3 times bigger.

Listening to these two I feel so much how I'm just... not such a positive person. It's way too much positivity for me. :dbana:
Is it just me or is it also a cultural thing?

The constant talk about how cold it is in Calgary right now probably isn't encouraging people to come 🥶 The weather is pretty similar here in Winnipeg, so I'm happy to watch from home.

It's small for a nationals anywhere. Maybe no cities bid and it was an available arena. Kind of like World arena was available for last season's 4CC. Not a great choice, but a fallback.

The Kelowna arena is bigger than 3000! But it's more convenient to fly to Calgary than to Kelowna.

my only story (i have mentioned it before in here) about Calgary is a layover i had there after a new year's party... before boarding, we were warned from the Calgary airport people to use the washrooms before boarding because they had frozen and were out of order on the plane.
It was just a short flight but I went twice to make sure LOL.. you know.. .after drinking champagne all night... not a good idea to fly without a bathroom.

wiki: "Calgary is a cosmopolitan city"
google: "no other Canadian city has as many hours of sun. it has one of the highest qualities of living in the world"
