I was hoping that top 10 would happen for Alexander, but -- all things considered -- 11th place was a good result. He had two competitions after Euros: one was a complete disaster, and the other was similar to Worlds. So, it was a good result overall. His score in Montreal was his second best this season, so he should be proud. IIRC, this is the highest placement EST achieved in the men's event. The only downside to this great event is Selevko placing 11th. I know he wanted to get a second spot for Estonia, but that was always going to be very difficult. I hope he’s not kicking himself too much over the missed combo. He should be proud regardless. This was a big moment for him and it showed that Europeans wasn’t a one-off. He’s had a good season.
EST men will have one more chance to earn the second Olympics ticket, at the 2025 Worlds. It will be tougher going, but there's still a chance.
. I knew this would happen because I know my town and my people .. and of course, worlds are worlds
What an astonishing skate by Ilia. Wow!!! The crazy thing is that this isn't even the limit for him. I'm just in awe.
