How would this be in his interest? Adam is a good jumper, but he's not as good as Ilia. Losing a jumping pass will cost Ilia more than it will cost Adam in base value, so Adam cuts into Ilia's advantage by virtue of a rule change.

what @4everchan said, plus factor in that in the 90s the entertainment options were fewer, streaming non-existent and, on top of it, Russians are no longer in international competitions which is a huge blow to entertainment value and splits focus between intl and Russian branches. Given all that, Montreal did great. i was there, and i didn't see any empty seats, except in blocked off areas.

I way, way prefer 2018-2022 skating to the way it was in 90s. Plushenko was the only skater from that era who was watchable when I tried looking at the period records. People are like, but look at this fantastic 30 seconds long spiral with a smile on her rosy face! And I'm like...seriously?

Plushenko is more early 2000 than 90. There were so many skaters more watchable than Plushenko - not that he was bad, just others were better but didn't do jumps the way he did.

I didn't see any. He knew how to put on a show. The rest was just yawnfest without the jumps. And women were just plain horrid.

I love modern FS. Started watching in 2018, and it was a blast until things started to get nerfed more and more. The old stuff, no, I don't like that. No energy, boring and the judging was all corrupt and unclear. I just wished I started watching a bit earlier, in like 2012 or so, to get a longer period of good skating while it was happening.

Ok, this explains everything. For me women in 2018 were unwatchable. I started watching fs around 1995, when I was 10 and skated a little bit myself I'll just ignore your future comments about what is boring in fs.

Please, Ilia was so overscored that it didn't hurt only because it didn't matter for the standings. He would win even if was scored honestly, because others had too many mistakes.

No. You love Russian FS.

Not exclusively, but I liked a lot of Russian skaters, particular among women singles and pairs. Also, didn't like a lot of Russian skaters, and the entirety of Russian Ice Dance (sorry, but they suck in dance). I only watch intl ice dance. Italian is my next fav school on the balance. If Japan made its nationals easier to follow, I so would follow, because I like a lot of Japanese male singles skaters (not their other disciplines though). I also watch American and Canadian as they are easily available in Canada, EC and 4CC, and, of course, I watch basically every second of JPG which is every country under the sun. So...

Also, yeah, I point and laugh really hard whenever anyone tries to insinuate Malinin is Russian. That's just dumb. He's American through and through, and I cheer for him as an American skater.

Some things about Russian FS and their attitudes outrage me to the point of screaming, some I really, really like. Some athletes there really speak to me with what they are trying to achieve or how they present.

and the first thing the ISU does is to say "Well, we certainly can't have any more of THAT."

So, I'm not interested in accusations about who does and does not care about the sport.

No. This rule gives a message that jumps are unwelcome for years to come. That's the problem. That it's a continuation of a crack down on jumps, and not only among the top 5 fighting for the podium, but even more so in 3 to 20 and it passes down even further. And, like, the effect in women is even stronger, though it is currently not visible, since they held back jumping in women via other means already.

How do you measure the number of new eyes broughot to the sport ?

Let's check IG followers. Malinin and his 4A have 175k. Jason Brown and his 3A have 287k. Even Kimmy Repond and her 2A have 211k.

So where are those eyes ?
