  5. Mei Okada πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ - 22 - 11+11 (366.89)
  6. Nayeon Ko πŸ‡°πŸ‡· - 22 - 11+11 (357.00)
(Skaters in bold have qualified, as they cannot be passed by more than one (Mao) or two skaters (Kaoruko))

Skaters currently scheduled to compete at JGP Wuxi:
  1. Juseong Kim πŸ‡°πŸ‡· - 15 (198.63)
  2. Yihan Wang πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³ - 15 (194.71)
  3. Ami Nakai πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ - 13 (191.61)
  4. Yo Takagi πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ - 13 (188.54)
  5. Inga Gurgenidze πŸ‡¬πŸ‡ͺ - 7 (mathematically impossible to qualify)
  6. Jeongyul Hwang πŸ‡°πŸ‡· - 5 (mathematically impossible to qualify)
Wang was awesome in Bangkok, probably less reason to expedite von Felten's visa

I'm not sure because it is China and I don't know how quickly they'd be able to get the change in assignments in order with visas.
China is on national holidays these days. And officials are in holidays too(which means maybe no official will deal with visa applications now).So if Sophie have not applied for visas before, it's hard for her to go to China. But there is 144 hour visa-free transit for foreigners in China.I don't know whether it is ok for Sophie.

Oh mi gosh, a nail biter. So, if Wang and Kim go gold and silver, they will both qualify, then it is between Gladki, Nakai and Takagi for remaining 3 spots?

I don't think she can compete on transit visa.

It seems like people from the United States still need a visa in advance.

Simply not good planning from USFS to put a girl with a stable 3A-3T in the second last stage with China the final round :rolleye:

At the same time, Sophie competed this summer and didn't land any of her 3axels if I recall correctly. So, she most likely wasn't ready to go to JGP right in August... So this was perhaps good planning from the USFS, to give her some more time to prepare for competition ;)

She wasn't on anyone's radar... so I don't think there is anyone to blame here if she doesn't get a second outing. She will have other chances to skate very soon for sure... She's only 15...

Can't imagine how heated competition in JGP China next week with 2 gold and 2 silver before. And there are two 180+score China local women who only have one jgp this year. This make results more unpredictable.JGP China will decide 4 qualifications to JGP Final.

Yep. But it’ll be two spots. Her chances are much stronger now! I think she qualifies unless a gold places fourth and she loses a combined total tie breaker.

So a top four that looks something like this: Wang-Nakai-Takagi-Kim with Takagi winning the tie-breaker and all four girls will qualify and Gladki won’t.

Reminds me of back in the day when Gracie only got the last JPG of the season and naturally she won. She had been killing it all summer long putting up big scores in summer competitions after not making Nationals and was doing multiple 3-3 combos when most of the top Senior ladies in the world weren't doing them at the time. Instead they gave Ashley Cain two events when she should have had only one maybe if they gave Gracie a earlier event she could have qualified for the JGP final.
Granted Sophie unlike Gracie hadn't shown anything like this in the summer so this came out nowhere. But at least Sophie has a chance for one more JGP event Gracie not getting an earlier assignment was inexcusable.

There are only a few possibilities for Stefania to not qualify:

a) Yihan and Juseong place 3rd and 4th and Ami and Yo place first and second or
b) Yihan and Juseong place 1st and 4th and Ami and Yo place second and third (with a higher combined score than Stefania), or
c) Yihan and Yuseong place 2nd and 4th and Ami and Yo place first and third (with a higher combined score than Stefania)

(I hope I thought of all options, sorry if I didn't)

Jia Shin really needs to reconsider her programs this season, both of them are no really her style, at least the short is very good choreograped and I like the music, but the free really don't give you any emotion, it's a very random music, zero interpretation just jumps with good transitions

Jia Shin jumped so close to the boards. I think this may have affected her triple triple. Also, no fight by leaving out her three jump combo. She could have added it to her final jump. This may have cost her the win.

I thought they might give it due to PCS earned from her reputation, but, the judges held back. To me, her program didn’t have that much speed or flow. So, I think she was marked accurately.

This is still a good result for Jia. This score guarantees her two spots in GP (Seniors) for the Olympic season.

In a way though, she was. There were constant instagram clips of her landing the 3A AND her 4S (q). I think her coaches had to get pro-active, because I suspect USFSA wasn't going to put her in any JGP, but rather allow a 2nd JGP for another junior. (But most of the juniors finished 8th or farther down). I'm don't recall if she was even invited to the 'juniors' competition or camp. Mia also gets no love from the USFSA.

At one time Jia was landing a 3A. She needs to go back to the 3A, she needs it.

Both Sophie and Mia were there in the summer comp. Sophie was 7th and Mia was 13th.

Sophie was at the Junior Camp. I forgot how she did. Anywhere between 6-9.
Sophie is lucky to even get this spot. I think USA went with their top 5 and then with Sophie (3A) and Mia (4T).
Mia is also capable of landing two 4T’s and I believe she did better than Sophie in summer domestic competitions. If I was USA, I would keep it the same with Mia going to China.

Fair enough but Instagram and competition are not the same...

The only secure way for Gladki to qualify is that Yihan and Juseong place 1st and 2nd in any order and Ami and Yo place 3rd and 4th in any order as well, that way Gladki go to the final with Ami or Yo, but if you note in the scenarios you showed, the skaters can place in any order as well, so there are more possibilities of Gladki not going to the final

Does Sophie Joline von Felten can compete in the next junior grand prix in China instead of Mia Kalin ? I love Mia Kalin but if this girl Sophie can have a chance to go to JGPF, I would give her a chance to try to make it to the JGPF.

Not unless she already has a visa for China. If she doesn't have a visa, they wouldn't be able to get one in time.
