2024 JGP Wuxi Women's FS

I was hoping Sophie would do well just to justify not sending Mia. (because I am actually a bit of a Mia fan... in that I think she is actually better than many people give her credit for). Unfortunately, Sophie just looks absolutely exhausted with none of the energy this program had before. Her SS skills are also a bit rough and she needs to go clean and let her performance shine through to get any love from the judges

Is this the difficulty back to back at different time zones? Europe and China is not really as bad as many others, but travelling and if you home is at totally different time zone?

A tough skate for Sophie, but she showed her fortitude, and never stopped attacking the jumps or the choreography, even though she looked visibly tired after the flying camel spin. Well done to her for fighting back from the opening jumps to land the 3A-2T, that takes mental grit. Her dress is giving me Aliona Kostornaia's Romeo & Juliet dress vibes.

I was so close to not putting her in my predictions, because I had a feeling this would not be going well - Too much pressure, competitions too closely together and a historically inconsistent skater - but I was so hopeful she would prove me wrong. Next season, Sophie, next season :console:

If I understood right, she was not really supposed to be here but the US fed changed after her win last week? Because of looking her to make it to final?
Indeed! In a time zone that's like 10 hours different, so yeeeeah not the brightest idea a Fed ever had.

Interesting dress, I'm not sure if I like it or not LOL.

One of my favourite soundtracks ever.

The time zone changes in the space of a week and a half would be brutal. Tough call whether to send her or not. I thought the idea behind lifting the senior age was so that medals weren't placed ahead of an athlete's physical and/or psychological welfare? Seems like the rule hasn't worked again.

US Fed was in a damned if you do/damned if you don't position. Von Felten was the only US woman capable of qualifying for the final, but her stage was really late, so she couldn't have a break to prep and they had to take a stage from another skater. It's not the end of the world. There is the Nationals and the JWC and the move to seniors is at 17 now. They can experiment for a bit.
