2024 NHK Trophy: Info and pre-game chat

told you, there's not statement whatsoever so we can only guess, maybe Daniel's lawyers made an appeal. i guess we'll never know unless he makes a statement. the point is, he made a huge mistake (well several) he had to face the consequences for his hectic behaviour, he paid for it, he's clear now. you might not be satisfied with it for some reasons (btw real dopers got to get back to competitions eventually, in many different sports), but i don't think that keeping complaining about it will be of any use
no it is not that I am not happy that he is back. My question was mor Why such an athlete is preferred by ISU? There are many athletes who, for example, did not get a good result last season due to injuries but who cares we give GP spot to freshly banned athelte.

But it would be better if Italian antidoping or athlete himself give some proper explanation.

There's a new GP replacement rule this season mentioned in the GP General Announcement for 24/25 issued on 31 July, where they made it more strict as to who gets to chosen as replacement:

All Skaters/Couples of the alternate list will be chosen in order of their ranking (excluding any skaters from Members already included in a maximum capacity and subject to extenuating circumstances). Extenuating circumstances include, but are not limited to, the availability of visas to enter the Host Country.

So Grassl must've been chosen because he's the next in line on the men's alternate list. I don't have the alternate list handy atm but I doubt JSF would go out of their way to break the rule for Grassl.

Btw, before this rule was in place it was the hosting federation (in this case JSF) who got to pick anyone from the top 10 of the alternate list, not ISU.

This sounds similar to the message I got when I won my tickets to Saitama in the ticket lottery, so I would say that you are likely guaranteed the tickets. However, the tickets you will receive are electronic tickets, so you will need the Tixplus app in order to receive them. It also took a long time for my electronic ticket to actually appear on the app; I received my digital ticket only a few weeks before the event started. If you log into the Tixplus website with your Member ID, you will still be able to see the fact that you "won" the tickets (although there wasn't a ticket lottery in your case). Have you downloaded the app yet?
Hello! I have good news - my tickets finally came through! And just in the nick of time. Does anyone know where I can find the schedule for the NHK Trophy? I can't seem to find it. Our flight gets in around noon on Friday, so I'm afraid I will likely miss most of the event by the time we get there :(

Thrilled of course that Andrew T. is in, :hap10:

But did JFed replace of their own accord? Did Stephen withdraw for his own reasons?

Yay, I'm so happy for you!:jumping: The pdf of the time schedule may be found at this link after you click on the "Colored Time Schedule" button. The ISU recently redesigned its website, which has made things rather confusing! Hope you still have time to at least see the events on Saturday as well as the gala on Sunday! 😊

(There are luggage lockers at major train stations in Japan, which might help you out if you really want to see some of the skating on Friday.)

I’ll start with good news - if you get in at noon, you’re only gonna miss the dance segment and should be in in time for the pairs! Depending on which airport you get into, the rink is ~1h away from Haneda and ~1.5-2h away from Narita.

If you have big check in luggage - find the Yamato counter at your terminal, they will deliver it to your hotel front desk on the same day if checked before 11 and next day morning if you check in after 11, so if you put in one days clothes in your carry on, you’re good to go (any hotel in tokyo will have the basic toiletries and pjs in the room for you).

PM me if you need more info/tips how to get there so you miss as little as possible. :) Hope you have a great experience!
