Exactly. So much angst over too many young skaters being too good and snatching medals then retiring. Now, the careers are long, mature skating reigns, everything they wanted had come true. But when Shimada is underaged, the rules are bad.
The ISU had a panic attack because of the Russian girls and moved it up too high 16 should have been the age set and now we know whoever wins the Olympics most likely is not only not the best skater in the world but not even in her own country.

I am extremely confident the skater who will win Olympics next year will also be the one who is the best in the world, but we'll see.

!! This will give her the confidence to stay in Canada. We need stars to stay in Brian Orser camp

My god, I just checked the protocols and I swear Kaoruko got the most amount of rotation calls I've ever seen in my years of watching skating

I mean, seriously. Yes some of the unders are obvious, but that many really? They even q-ed both her 2Ts.....
Like compared to other skaters, feels like many of them got benefit of the doubt, but not Kaoruko

16 will be the same exact problem as 15. 17 addresses it somewhat, but places women at disadvantagd compared to men as tne transfer happens during maximum growth changes.19 eliminates it and is more fair to women, to be honest. The main goal, once again, is a long career that allows for taking a year or two off for injuries and reworking jumping techniques to adapt to changes in biomechanics due to normal aging, turning senior skating into pro sport versus a high school after-school activity.
