It's 4:30 in Japan and I have ~jet lag~, so why not recaps? :p

Valeria MARTINEZ ALEMAN MEX 58.82/83.34

Notes:
A much stronger outing for Valeria today! Shame about the popped loop but hopefully she'll be happy with that.

I must've missed another spin when I blanked out...oops...

Notes:
When Julianna's triples work, they're rock-solid, so it was really nice to see a few super clean this time. Too bad about the loops - they really seem to be getting to everyone at this event. I really like Julianna's smooth skating and speed.

Leila FESTIC BOS 57.30/89.02

Music:
"The Godfather" OST by Nino Rota

2F-1Lo
3S (fall)
FCCoSp
2F
2Lz
SCoSp (bailed out)

Notes:
Even in her starting pose, Leila makes an impression of being incredibly elegant. She has very long lines and knows how to use 'em  She's got this catchfoot position in her flying camel combo that almost looks like a one-handed Biellman and it's stunning. Not sure what happened with the last spin, but really too bad because her spins were generally great.

Pimmpida LERDPRAIWAN 72.99/104.76

Music:
"God Only Knows" by Joss Stone

Tech:
3Lz< (2ft, maybe <<?)

2F-2Lo

Notes:
Pimmpida's got the most gorgeous dress for this program. I'm awful at describing costumes, but it's lavender and a real stunner. The other thing she has that I love is confidence. A lot of these earlier skaters are pretty tentative in the lead-up to their jumps, but not Pimmpida - she just goes for it! That plus her speed, gorgeous spins, and fast rotation make me suspect she'll get a great score for this group despite mostly doing doubles.

EDIT: oh yeah, that'll be first by a lot!

Adria LILIAC ROM 59.76/93.09

Music:
"Adagio" by Lara Fabian

Tech:

FCCoSp (bit wobbly)
2A (turnout)
CCoSp
2Lz-2T (hand down)
2Lz-seq-1A-1A
CCoSP

Notes:
Another tall skater with gooorgeous lines, wow. Props for choosing a dress that really accentuates her extension and length of line. Her air position is very good, so when her jumps do their thing, they're very nice to look at.

This program is also a fun reminder that, for reasons I still cannot fully understand, I was ferally obsessed with Lara Fabian when I was twelve.

Ziyao WU NZL 68.31/106.43

Music:
"Out of It" by Falluluah

Tech:

2F-1A-2Lo
2Lo
StSq? (am I tripping?)
2F (fall)
2Lz
2S
FCCoSp
LSp

Notes:
Ziyao has so much personality and is unquestionably Daughter Of The Day. I'm not sure how her score will hold up here, but I absolutely can't wait to see more from her.

Not perfect, there were plenty of rotation issues here and still two falls, but the layout was much better than at NextGen. I think she'll be able to cope with this content better in another month or two.

Lulu LIN CAN 87.54/129.42

Music:
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Tech:
3Lz-2T
3Lz (Rippon, fall)

3F-2A-1A-SEQ
3F (maybe slight 2ft?)
ChStSq
3S (fall)
CCoSp
SCoSP
Where did I miss a jump? There had to be a 3Lo in there, right?

Notes:
Not a perfect rebound, but better than her SP by a lot. Lulu is a quality skater and I hope that it'll be all uphill for her from here.

Maria VELASQUEZ TOSCANO 69.87/112.72

Music:
La Dama d'Aragó by Barcelona Gipsy Klezmer Orchestra

Tech:

2S-2T
3T - fall
2A
CCoSp
2F-2A (2ft)
2Lz-2T
2F

CoSp

Notes:
Maria's transitions are really cool, sometimes to the detriment of the jumps themselves :( She has great attack and wonderful spins, and it's great to see her go after the triples with a lot of speed and confidence. Presentation, SS and spins are already solid, so when the triples are a little more consistent, I think she has potential to be one of the best skaters Mexico has had so far.
