Well, thankfully the FD is an improvement and skated much better than the RD. But it's very much Cizeron material he did with Gaby. Nothing particularly original. We'll see what International judges make of it. I suggest a change of RD.

The music doesn't have a discernible beat.
I saw someone say yesterday his blade was coming off the boot (or the heel was coming off the boot, I don't remember)

Agreed, FD was an improvement, but still not really dancing, more like 2 people with tech abilities showing off. Bland and boring and her skirt was disturbing when it wrapped around her waist.
The RD is very cool, in normal lighting and more milage it will work out. It looks like they worked more on the FD than the RD. I'm very impressed by them, and this is only their first season together. I had long hoped she'd get a partner to match her skills, but this is beyond my wildest dreams.
C/B are not innovative, mind you, they're compensating for lack of SS. Innovative I'd give to other more deserving teams. They are rather flat. How, anything they did topped Wuthering Heights from G/P is still a mystery to me.

Just saw Adam's gala skate. Out of respect for his wishes (I guess they're his wishes) I won't share it.
Lots of stroking around, a 3T and a 3F. No spins I can recall. A random back flip that makes no sense at all in the context of the program which is a droning lyrical type of music. Overall, it's pretty forgettable, and I say that as someone who typically doesn't like exhibition skating anyway. So take it for what it's worth.

The more strays that Chock/Bates catch, the more I root for them. I'm contrary that way.
Back on subject, I do wonder what's up with Adam? I depend on him for quirky confidence. Given the French Fed, I wouldn't put it past them to pressure him to skate.

I really do think Adam must have been strongarmed into competing here although he was too injured or ill. At least I hope he's injured or ill (bad as that sounds), because something is clearly off. I had him pegged as a podium threat everywhere he competes this year.The more strays that Chock/Bates catch, the more I root for them. I'm contrary that way.

Although we didn't see them, the protocols for both programs are a mess, and this gala skate is just not good. It's going to have to get better than this.

Adam's comment after the short program:

I am so disappointed to read that.
