2025 Masters de Patinage

I don't care to see anything from Adam until GPFrance. He'll have plenty of time to work out the kinks with his coaches. When my mother was working on a painting, I didn't say to her "let me see, let me see, let me see." I let her work on it at her own pace and when it was finished, I then decided to finally look at it. In a similar vein, we all are not alike when it comes to choosing when to look at a skater's program.

They don’t want to show Adam’s program.

This is most bizarre really :scratch2: I saw the disclaimer that you quoted on the stream replay and it makes very little sense. What does this have to do with "the respect for our athletes' preparation for the Olympic season"? And why only block Adam's program? He is clearly not the only one preparing for the season / the Olympics. And what "multiples requests" could they have possibly received not to show Adam's skate? Obviously, the only one who can have possibly requested such a thing is Adam himself (and he does have enough internal weight that just his request would seemingly be enough for the French Fed to comply).

He skated sick.

Even stranger. He is sick, he has already well in advance requested the French Fed not to broadcast his skates... why taking part at all in the Masters? :scratch2: It's not like this is a crucial live or die competition. And no matter how bad the skates actually were /will be, the fact that he specifically asked the French Fed in advance not to broadcast them in my opinion leaves a much worse and weaker impression of him to potential competitors (his French competitors actually must have seen the skates live anyway, except if the public was asked to leave, which would have been even more drastic). I mean, in my view, this is more reputational harmful and drives way more negative attention to him.

All this "drama" is very far from the best way to start the season for Adam, especially if he does indeed have any ambition to get a medal in the Olympics...

Well, to be fair, your mum probably didn't voluntarily take part in a public exposition, showed up carrying her canvas and once there, requested that it shall be concealed behind a curtain....

I don't know, it's just the complete absurdity of Adam's "strategy" that simply astounds me

yeah the analogy is not convincing... a competition and a work of art in the making aren't the same thing.

unless adam had a terrible haircut or chicken pox, then I don't understand why he just would make a fuss about this. Nobody is expected to peak in August when the big event is in February. Making a fuss about this is creating an unnecessary narrative into the program. It could be added pressure for him the next time he has to skate it with the cameras on... I really like Adam and I actually would like him or Yuma to win the Olympics (oops... I revealed myself already) but I don't understand this move. It's not really showing the kind of mental space I believe is optimal... but in the end, it's his move to make not mine.

I just translated the message on my screen from French to English after Kevin skated and this is how it reads:

Out of respect for our athletes' preparation for this Olympic season, and following various requests, the current program will not be broadcast live. We thank you for your understanding.

After reading that, I deleted my prior comments since I now see that this statement in no way implicates anyone. A skater, a coach, or even my dog. And I don't even have one.

Tempest in a teapot.

I have no interest in seeing Adam's programs until GP France. It requires no convincing to understand my preference.
You are entitled to your own preferences... if you don't want to see Adam compete until GP France, that's up to you. You don't even have to watch Masters de Patinage then... I want to see him compete now. Not really hard to understand either, right ?

Sure I do. Kevin. He did great today! 97.09.

If it's okay for Ilia not to reveal his programs yet, guess what? It's okay for Adam not to reveal his.

But I'm willing to bet that your mother didn't work on her painting in the middle of an art show, but surrounded herself with screens so that no one could look.

The only reasonable argument I can find for this action is that the French Fed encouraged Adam to skate at this event, and did him the courtesy of hiding the performance because he wasn't ready to show.

In the past I would have said: Masters is not for us. It is for the skaters, a monitoring, to get feedback from the judges ahead of the season. It was the French "test skates". Test skates usually aren't public. And they're important for the skaters, something not to miss, especially in an important season.

But last year I think they split Masters and the monitoring event. Not sure if it is the case this year as well?

I like Adam a lot but this attitude is not right imo. I don't really think it's his own idea, it looks more like team behind him. I would rather see his skating speak for himself than blowing up PR balloon, it doesn't make him any service at all. Let's just compare it to Yuma who presented his new programs by skating them beautifully.

I saw that too and they are good skaters but 88???
88.54 and that was with his L3 Twizzles. It wasn't a terribly difficult program, yet 50 for TES.
The aesthetic is not as good as with Gaby, they don't match as well in my view.
The material and Choreography was very average and not even original.

Seriously Judges.

I admit I was very annoyed because I was looking forward to his new program and planned the whole day as to watch it live. BUT we don't really know if it was Adam's request. It could have been his team's or even the Fed's decision. I don't think he was in position not to skate as it is basically the national test skates, especially important in Olympic year. Let hear more before we judge.

Lopareva/Brissaud 80.30 into 2nd but should've won the RD. More difficult dance, more original, very 90s flavour and style Choreography.

Loica and partner were 3rd with 76.

So the puffing up of Cizeron has started. Let's see what the FD is like?
