2025 JGP Baku Women's Short Program

Zhasmin is a powerful skater, with big movement. I was impressed by the 2A out the Ina Bauer, as it came out of nowhere, and her great flexibility in her I-spin. She uses her upper body well to meet the varied height criterion in the step sequence. She punches the air at the end, I think she's happy with it.

Great skate by Hyewon!

But thb I don't know if swan lake is a good choice for her. Her skills nonwithstanding she didn't really embody the music. It all looked a bit too technical for my taste, doesn't mix well with Tchaikovski. 🤔
I don't think it is either, I much prefer her FS to Hymne a l'amour. She is a stable skater overall and usually solid with her elements but she does have to work on her performance, and while her FS helps her do that the SP doesn't. The fact that the SP was choreographed by Jung Yean (a retired skater born in 2005) and the FS by the renowned Shin Yeaji explains it somewhat

Yes, sort out all your shoulder straps before you start.

Maybe should have sorted her hair as well. That bit flapping around is distracting.

Beautiful 3Lo to start with

And beautiful combination jum too.... until sje went to move away

2 Ax good

Combination Spin beautful.

This seems a very long Step Sequence. But it was beautiful.

Sit Spin good

Beautiful Layback Spin to finish with.

I think this is the best I've seen Zhasmin skate.

Lots of waving from Zhasmin and her family.

A bit of confusion forming the heart around her.

She goes into 9th position. They are disappointed.

But, I still think she was great!

:cheer: WELL DONE ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

Ouch. Combo gone. :frown:

Why is ISU so cruel and make a jump mandatory in the SP for the juniors? If the combo goes wrong they have no second chance like the seniors do.

Leyli stuck to her guns and made that programme work for her by the end. The jumps didn't work out at first, but that was a nice 2A. Quick twizzles at the start of her step sequence and a nice little loop turn near the end. A level 4 flying sit spin for her as well.

Shylina gives an impression of speed and power when she skates, and she seems to be very sanguine about the challenges she experienced. Oops, combo gone, when she steps out of the 3Lz. Down on the axel. I like the little toe relevé in her camel spin. She enters that change foot combination spin with gusto, and attacks the step sequence, skating positively through it.

I'm back from my shower, and since the skating hasn't resumed yet I'd like to express my sadness that Yuseong went back to her Clair de Lune SP from last season. Her Clair de Lune is a fine program but I did quite like Yuseong's new look with Lindsay Stirling and the black dress... maybe she'll use it for next season, a girl can dream
