2025 JGP Baku Women's Short Program

Alicia is a charming skater, and that music shows off her qualities well. Catchfoot spiral as she heads into the 3Lo, and an arabesque spiral entrance for the 2A, with a cross grab of her blade in attitude on the landing. She backloads the combination. She uses her arms nicely - I particularly appreciate that she has one in fifth during two sets of twizzles.

Absolutely beautiful from the younger Lengyelová sister. (I had to check. They are so alike I can never remember which is which. :drama: )

Beautiful music. Beautiful dress. And beautiful skating.

You know, I often regret not adopting Olivia and Alica when I first came across them. But, I have enough kids to keep up with as it is.

Alica goes into 3rd position.

I think this music does not fit Jana much, she needs something more playful. Not bad skate, apart from 3Lo, but she has to perform with smile to charm the judges.

Lots happening at the start of Maisa's programme before we even get to the opening jumping pass. I like the sitting glide across the ice with the free leg extended, that's neat. She uses her upper body well when expressing the music, and is a good spinner too!

Okay, I'll be honest here. I'm a bit confused about what exactly this panel is up to at this competition, because usually at this point, I'd be able to get a pretty good feel of whether this panel is more on the strict side or more generous, but here, it just sort of feels a tad all over the place.

Some scores felt a bit strict, some more generous, some quite fair, and we've not even really gotten to the expected top skaters who might be given a bit of a boost at times, even with stricter panels.

if they do as they did for the men they'll be generous with the top skaters and they'll just follow their heart with everyone else
