2025 Skate Ontario Sectional Series | Oct 16-19

Senior Men starting, getting out the candles now. David B is here, hopefully he's feeling better after yesterday. Getting a nosebleed won't help him like the short any more.

Go David B!!!

In next flight, go David S and Bruce ❤️

Grabbing dinner, will check in to see how the senior men did and then will watch GP France at home. Perfect evening coming up!!

Jake - I think it's a new costume for La La Land, periwinkle sweater over white button-up shirt? Went for a 2A instead of 3A to open. Landing his jumps, and then pops when I type that. Camel is cursed tonight, stumbles during the step sequence with a hand down.

Free 120.64, total 187.56 into first.

John - fall on the opening quad, pops the second quad. Turn out on the 3A. He didn't do any combos in the first half. This turning into Gangsta's Paradise with him in a sparkly tuxedo always gets me. He gets the -2A-2A three jump sequence and another combo. Turn out on the last jump and manages to get a 2T on it.

Free 130.16, total 200.88 into first.

Bruce - slips on the take off for his opening jump and doesn't take off :( Pops the axel. I think he just gave John the win. Maybe Jake bronze. Gets some combos in the second half, and then fall.

Needless to say…… none of the junior men or Senior men in this competition deserve international assignments.

Congrats on the silver David S 👏

I believe the Pairs events are starting now!!!

Good luck to Yohnathan and Ava in Seniors 🙏

Also, I just want to mention some other singles results…. From our Pairs skaters…

Our last season junior worlds pairs bronze medalist, Martina Ariano Kent, competed in Junior Girls and finished in 5th in the easier group. 104.12. Landed a salchow here and there. She will probably make it to our Challenge event. But, she will have to land more triples if she wants to make it to Nationals.

Also, Brianna Dion, from our NextGen Pairs team, placed second in her Novice group. 114.35. I think she will do Junior Nationals in Pairs and Novice in singles since the events are separate now.

Pre-Novice Pairs Short just finished, Novice is about to start.

For Martina, she's representing Quebec since she registered in sectionals there. She'll also need to get the 35.5 TES in the free to qualify for Challenge. It could be easier this year with the change in Junior Women qualification (6 additional entries based on National ranking that have the 35.5 TES that didn't qualify either through a bye or through sectionals.)

Dion/Cote - Brianna stumbles on the 2A landing. Got a little worried about Jacob towards the end of the lift. Stumble on the throw landing. Jacob was so into performing he stumbles into the ending pose and laughed it off at the end. I like them, I'm hoping they can get on the podium at Nationals.

Oh!! I thought she moved to Skate Oakville. Ok. If she skates for Quebec, Sectionals might be it for her 😵

Currently watching GP France Pairs Free Skate…. 🍿

Laiu/Haubrich - Walk This Way. Big 2Tw. Marty loses some balance on the 2A landing. Hand down on the throw. Marty does devil horns during the death spiral. I want to see Rebecca on the JGP, but she'll need a new partner for that (David S, are you in the audience?)

51.21

Lucia/James - cover of Seven Nation Army and right into the death spiral, points for using that as the first element! They do 2Lo for their jump. This is starting to sound like an epic trailer version of Seven Nation Army. Camera has to pull back to keep them in frame for the spins.

And next event is announced to be the Senior Women Short, which means Kemp/Elizarov withdrew.
Ok. This is sad but guess what ? It confirms my take on paying for these events. I am so glad I didn't pay : I wanted to see them and that was the only reason I would have paid. And I'd be so pissed right now.

BTW : thanks for the updates. I read them with a lot of pleasure.
