Cup of China has a history of being cursed... and this is one of those years, it seems.

Shin Jia has “generically pretty” down to a science, but the program is boring and the music doesn’t help at all. They say “if ain’t broke don’t fix it” but if she can’t hold my attention then something’s broken.

A great program from Amber, some of her landings looked a little tight and I suspect she'll get a few jumps looked at but overall a mostly clean skate! At this point in the season, this is where you want to be; skating mostly clean but with room to improve. I wish she had a different free skate; I understand that mentally keeping this program has helped her a lot but she can handle better material.

love to see Damon emotional at the boards, not happy to see Amber wincing in pain again after her free, she's had consistent back issues and her grasping her neck and having all that strapping is worrying me

Not my favorite Olympic year music, but the most important thing for Amber is to be consistent. She pulled it off today and as long as she's cleanish the crowds will get into it.

Amber nailed the 3A again, it became so dependable for her. I don't remember any other female skater being so secure in this jump before. The 3F-3T is still wonky, but that's a minor issue

That was great. The 3-3 did not like her at this competition, but that doesn't matter that much with the sort of 3A she is delivering here.

Wow - Well done, Amber!! She is such a strong, powerful skater. I can't get over how solid her 3A is. It's probably her best/most consistent jump at this point. I don't love the program, until the build-up into the triple loop. I found that the end just kind of petered out. I'm not sure about her dress. I like the bodice, but not the sleeves or skirt.
