2025 Cup of China Women's Free Skate

Really nice job by Gubanova! :) She performed consistently throughout the program, with very honest-feeling emotions displayed. I love her dress as well - It's really modern looking, and I didn't even realize that there were faces on her back until partway through the program! That said, her jumps often seem muscled, and her spins need work. I wouldn't have finished the program on a weaker element like that, if I were her.

First time seeing her this season (I missed the SP, watched only a replay of Liu & Glenn) I like Gubanova but I'm meh about the packaging again. The "I hear you, I see you" voiceover bits made me cringe a little and the choreo seq was "just there". A well skated FS though today, with some luck she might rise in the rankings.

I loved Amber's dress yesterday. I do not like this one. The stripes look like depression made visible.
I prefer the FS dress she wore at the Nebelhorn Trophy. That dress topped both last year’s dress and the one she is wearing here I think.

Jia is lovely and her ethereal dress is angelic, but I have serious (okay, not at all serious ) problems with Liebestraum ever since I heard Victor Borge's version of it ("I hate Liebestraum" and the he grumbles all the way through playing it) and at one point I can always hear him muttering "a questionable cup of coffee"...

Oh no, Jia had a repeat of last week's free with popping the opening loop and last week's short with the combo fall. The rest of the jumps were solid, but her takeoff edges will get looked at, and a few of those landings were a little tight. It's not been the GP debut she would have hoped for, although I don't think it's been a disaster by any means. Her musicality and ability to execute the choreo is very senior-level and she has some gorgeous movements, especially in the choreo and step sequence, but she is still looking down at the ice a lot. I hope this will be a blip as she continues to ascend in seniors.

That was a bit of a mixed skate for Jia, unfortunately. I was surprised when she went down on the combination! She's got great basics and lovely spin positions, and I like her dress. I wish that she would look up more when she skates though. She often looks down at the ice.

Jia's program is across the music. Missed all accents except one, on which she fell. The music begins to develop and she stops. The music reaches a culmination and she does cross-overs. She has a lot of potential, but...
