2025-26 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 1 - Magnitogorsk

Ok now I’m obsessed with Ugozhaev’s music. That shit was devine.

I need Gleikhengauz or someone dramatic to choreograph that piece!

Russians sure know how to do drama and do it well 😁 The goings of the camera back and forth Mark and Kolya while waiting for Kolya's scores were quite something 🙂

Kolya ends quite low in the FS and has to thank his huge SP advantage to be able to stay in the podium at the end. Mark wins this, which is honestly quite surprising and seems to surprise even him..... whatever you think, Mark always seems like a very self-aware person 🙂

Joint interview with Mark and Grigory, which is nice, they seem to be quite close and supportive of each other

Dina's words after competition:

"Only positive feelings, I'm glad I made it into the top three on my first try. Yesterday, I got stressed on the axel and fell on my left side. I analyzed everything and didn't make any mistakes in the free program.I switched to Eteri Tutberidze in August. I was nervous on the first day when I saw Eteri Georgievna for the first time, my heart skipped a beat, but I fit right in; we're a close-knit group. The coach's presence today added motivation; she instilled in me the right attitude with her gaze."

Not gonna comment on that score after that skate ….
Total disgrace to score Adelia as they did, and bury other skaters. Waste of time watching when everything is arranged in advance.

Sham event designed to give Adelia some false confidence, but even then that won't help her.

Maybe realistic scoring (not harsh, punitive scoring as with the other girls simply realistic scoring) would be the reality check Petrosian and Tutberidze team need.

Every event Adelia gets worse.

I don't buy this injury excuse because she showed her best at the qualifier event. She's had another 5 weeks since then to improve and all the jumps are worse.

I have a theory that some of the ISU stipulations placed on AIN athletes have forced Team Tutberidze to cease using previous proven methods if you understand me. Maybe out of an abundance of caution.

This is a stunning fall from grace for Team Tutberidze from one Olympic cycle to the next, and for Adelia from one season to the next.

Really makes you wonder what was going on before to get such results? 🤔🤔

This time four years ago Sasha with five quads, Kamila three quads and a stable triple axel, now underrotating on almost every triple. Hmmm...

She said she stopped again after test skates and just started again

I really enjoyed the Men event, many wonderful performances and great comebacks!

I fully root for Russian Men, they are very special skaters and overall the competition level has improved hugely in the last years. I'm very happy to see they were able to keep their motivation and move forward. And I'm specially grateful that, even among increased tech difficulty, many of them are able to indeed create beauty and deliver emotionally engaged performances.

Go Arthur, Roma, Mark, Artem, Grisha and so many more of them, onwards and upwards! :ghug:💪
