2025-26 Junior Grand Prix Final Pairs Short Program

they don't sell exclusive rights to the JGP season but they do for the finals because it's combined with the seniors. It's simple logic.

And if it's blocked for you, it's because broadcasters form your own country wants you to pay for their subscriptions... so either you do that or you can get a free ride from us nice Canadians, using a VPN.

Enjoy !
Bolded text is also clearly what I already said upthread. I realize the grift.

Ah, so CBC got juniors and seniors? NBC/ Peacock is NOT showing the jgpf and they never have. Exorbitant YouTube may be looking for subscriptions. I already subscribe to NBC/ Peacock. All of this technology streaming nonsense causing so much difficulty to view events is cruel punishment for fans of the sport.

I am not arguing anything. It clearly states that the ISU sold exclusive rights to the CBC, (senior events are available on NBC/ Peacock in the U.S. by subscription). The junior events are not owned by NBC/ Peacock. Apparently, the junior events were sold to CBC and perhaps Asahi TV purchased both junior and senior GP events.
The ISU sells their events to every broadcaster in the world that wants to pay for rights. Have a look at the thread "where are you watching"
It's not just Japan and Canada... So, when a broadcaster from a specific country, in your case NBC, Peacock, pay for rights, it's up to them to geoblock... Canada doesn't geoblock YouTube for Canadians because it's a public network... Private broadcasters do it.

NBC/ Peacock does not hold broadcast rights for jgpf! In this case, the ISU and/ or YouTube are geoblocking jgpf events in the U.S.

Happy for Canadians that you don't have to subscribe to watch. You have better access to healthcare, too. ✨

NBC Peacock probably own the broadcast rights for GPF ... so they would still be the ones to blame for the geoblocking of YouTube .

Yes, but only for senior gpf, not the jgpf! The jgpf is being geoblocked due to the ISU selling jgpf rights to CBC, Asahi TV, and the BBC.

well complain to them then... nothing to do with the CBC as you were mentioning.
What I quoted earlier clearly states that the ISU, the rights seller, is responsible for geoblocking once they sell the rights. I'm sure YouTube is involved as well. It's not as if CBC is an innocent bystander, though. 😉

The ISU stream is blocked here in Australia too, I'm watching the juniors for free on SBS, a public, government-funded broadcaster.

Money talks, I guess.

Reading this thread is really testing me, but I feel the responsibility to make this very clear. - A broadcaster buying the broadcasting rights for a different territory has nothing to do with the content being geo-blocked in your country. If NBC buys the rights for an event for the US, this event won't be blocked in Canada, Mexico or anywhere else just because NBC bought it. CBC bought the rights for Canada (where the World feed is additionally not geo-blocked), Asahi TV for Japan and the BBC for GB (probably?). This all has nothing to do with the US.

The JGPF is geo-blocked in all countries the GPF is also geo-blocked in, likely because someone (or an AI, at this point) messed up and set all videos to the same setting, which isn't that unlikely considering the JGPF Pairs event cover shows Miura/Kihara. Or maybe they sold the rights as a package and the broadcasters don't think anyone would care to see the JGPF (I've seen broadcasters buy exclusive rights just to show newsclips, so that tracks). Either way, CBC is not the reason why you can't watch the ISU YouTube stream (and they are indeed an innocent bystander, considering that they don't even geo-block the ISU stream in the country they actually have the broadcasting rights in.)

CBC is streaming the JGPF. Peacock isn't. Usually, that means the US can see the JGPF ISU Live stream without a VPN.

And in fact this morning, all the JGPF tiles are visible. So it appears it was an ISU screwup, possibly aided by Peacock, who may not have told the ISU they are not broadcasting the JGPF.

Yeah, thanks for the rundown. It's always great hearing from those with expert knowledge. In any case, I never said that 'CBC is the reason why I can't watch the ISU YouTube stream.' Good for CBC being so wonderful to Canadians. Still, I don't think any broadcasters are innocent bystanders.😉

CBC bought the Canadian rights to the GPs and GPF from the ISU. Sometimes they block the ISU YouTube stream in Canada, sometimes they don't. They don't have any control over streaming in any other country.

They do block access to the CBC streams; only those in Canada (actually or through a VPN) can watch the CBC streams. That's because they only have broadcast rights in Canada, not worldwide. If they made the streams available in other countries, then the broadcasters who bought the rights in those other countries could/would complain or sue them. So yes, CBC does geoblock their own streams, for legal reasons. They only have the rights for Canada, so they can only make their streams available in Canada.

I think it was this blocking the @BlissfulSynergy was talking about.

And I don't think it's fair to blame the CBC for not buying the worldwide rights and making their streams available to everyone in the world. Canadians are nice, but we're not that nice.

Thanks for your fair and balanced explanation, @NanaPat. It is what it is. Very sad for fans and ultimately for growing the sport, not to be able to see events, especially when many of us are paying a lot already. Streamed Challenger events are looking to get lots of subscriber money, too. At least, Skate Canada allows their domestic events to be freely streamed on Dailymotion. Cannot say that about U.S. fed's deal with NBC/ Peacock. It is Peacock who should be making JGPF available to U.S. viewers if they have the rights. For some reason, it's still being indicated that JGPF events can be seen on the ISU channel, which is how it has been for years. But not this year. After the disaster NBC/ Peacock made of Skate America, I am shuddering to think what they are planning on the Peacock paid subscriber streaming channel for going on an ad spree at U.S. Nationals, with horrible commentating, no slo-mos, nor event continuity!!! 😱 This crazy sport sorely lacks good, responsible leadership.
