Notte Stellata | Mar 7, 8 and 9, 2026

A beautiful review of NS from AERA Digital

Title: Yuzuru Hanyu: "I wonder if I was able to leave something behind in the ruts of all of your lives" –

"The Shinkansen stops and lands at Sendai Station. From here, you need to transfer trains and buses to the venue in Rifu Town. There is a certain distance. However, the guides, posters, and people at the station's premises...... It seemed that you were already standing at the entrance of the show. (...)
Narration plays in the darkened venue.
"I was 16 years old."
It's Hanyu's voice.
"The town where I live is going to be destroyed. When the sun set, the city of Sendai was pitch black due to a power outage. I was scared and desperate. When I look up at the sky."
At that moment, countless white lights lit up in the audience.
"A beautiful starry sky was shining in the darkness."
In the venue, the starry sky at that time is recreated.
Soon, the ice surface is illuminated white. Hanyu in a white costume dances. The song is "Notte Stellata", which is also the title of the show. An air full of kindness envelops the venue."

And further on:
"The performance shown in "Happy End" is to try to stand up from the blow and increase in strength while struggling. The final scene is where everyone's smiles in "Song of Hope" and the skaters are connected. The show itself seemed to convey that there are indelible wounds, and that there is hope that will be born beyond them while accepting them."

From Nippon TV a mini-documentary on Yuzuru Hanyu being an earthquake survivor supporting other survivors- and in more ways than one, and Notte Stellata show being a part of these efforts.
Fully in English!!

Some Towa 2026 Notte Stellata merchandise have been reordered, orders will be accepted from April 10th and will end once the reorder quantities are reached, and dispatching is scheduled for July:

BS Nittele TV uploaded their 4-minutes long news segment on Notte Stellata 2026 on their official YouTube channel.
Towa Pharmaceuticals, the main sponsor of the show, invited several merchants from the Wajima Mobile Morning Market from Wajima City which Yuzu visited as the Special Messenger for Disaster-Stricken Areas, and brought them to the show, You can see them in the beginning of the video, among other local merchants selling their goods to the NS crowd at the venue's stalls, receiving tickets and then coming to the show. Snippets of programs included, of course, :)
Enjoy!

News every NTV has announced a BTS doc from the backstage of Notte Stellata 2026 to be aired on April 30, this coming Thursday.
They also promise to post it on their official YouTube channel soon after the broadcast on air

Thank you, news every!!! :thank::thank::thank::thank:

A 12-minute BTS video was uploaded today by Nippon TV on their website after being aired on the TV proper. They promised to post it also on their You Tube channel, but until they do, you can watch from here (no translation tool for videos on the website, sorry, but you can enjoy the footage anyway). Rehearsals with Tohoku Youth Orchestra included, and even some archive footage of Mr Sakamoto.
The young musicians interviewed apparently refer to Yuzuru as "The Ice Prince", his old-time nickname, apart from Hanyu-san :)
Enjoy!

NNTV behind-the scenes video has been posted on their YouTube channel. Still in Japanese only, and I hope they will prepare the English-language version of it, as they did with some of their other Yuzu-related videos. In the meantime, you can use YouTube translation tool.
Enjoy!!!

... and while we are waiting hopefully for the official English version of the video, here's the translation of a litle part of what Yuzu said there:

NTV has uploaded a detailed transcript of the NS BTS video on their website which is much easier to machine translate and provides much more accurate translation than the YouTube subtitles tool. While we are still waiting hopefully for a fully English version of the video on their English-language channel, the transcript comes as a very helpful bonus. Use and enjoy!

And here's the video itself:

A fragment of Yuzuru's interview published yesterday in Mainichi - Yuzu speaking of "Happy End" .
What I find particularly inspiring is him saying it is not just about "contemporary dance" as such but about looking for the best tools to convey what he wants to express. It is not an end in itself, but a tool. As it should be.

This is very encouraging, that he has more and more he wants to share with us.

I like how he demurs as taking credit for 'a new frontier' even as he is pursuing just that now.

Satomi Ito remembering how Yuzuru's amazing Bolero costume was created!
Noted: inspiration both by traditional Japanese costumes and by Yuzuru's costumes for Echoes of Life whioch had been created by different designers
