Evgeni Plushenko

Thank you, Gallavich. I really hope he takes it easy and lays off the training for a while. The part about Mishin... :cry:

"terrific athlete"?! Oh, Plushy, how you've disappointed me! :laugh:

I do completely share his thoughts on Artur though. ...Is the interviewer suggesting that love is what brought Artur down? I mean, he wouldn't be the first person to be brought down by love, but it's the first time I've heard this story. :unsure:

And of course Plushy wants to extend the LP! It's madness, but I've learned to expect nothing less from him.

I don't know if Artur has talked about his mental state, or if the reporter is just speculating and assumed that love made him distracted. I just hope all of the changes he's made this year will be positive for him.

LOL, poor Kovtun. Well, maybe I shouldn't feel bad for him as he seems a bit of a brat, at least on social media. But he's still so young...he could still mature and improve, time will tell.

Mishin said it about Artur. In last year I thought he has already passed on the problem....But his skating wasn't better :(

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJtVQS5np5o - Evgeny Plushenko Palm Reading :) so interesting :laugh:

I don't normally believe in these kinds of things, but this...I choose to believe! :o::slink:

Why are people so rude and ****** on the Plushy threads? There are some skaters I don't like. I would never go into their threads and say negative things. I just ignore them...it's not hard. Is it just jealousy?

Plushy just posted another pic: "I am getting ready for the Olympics!" :biggrin: http://instagram.com/p/qjrCEiGy1m/

Yes, this is my experience too. We Plushenko fans don't hate any other skater.. We aren't rude, but who hates Plushy those are very rude with him. I really don't understand. Who is hater that remains hater. But those members who aren't haters read only negative comments and negative posts, without exact infromations become haters. This is the reason why I have many debates with the haters.

And calm down those fans who beat Yuna fans in the icenetwork voting love him so much!!! You believe me he has millions of fans in the whole world. Who cares of some jealous FS fans who don't like Plushy's succes and fame ?

http://instagram.com/p/qjfHBnhj4p/ and http://instagram.com/p/qjXJs9QORO/ he is cute!

I don't know - difficult to say. Unlike many of those people, I would not like to assign motives to people I don't know. Still, we do have the results. And yes, any Plushy thread is to them like sharks smelling blood in the water - or hyeanas maybe a better analogy, because they will crack their amusing "jokes" and try to be "witty" at his expense - with, alas, scant success. If someone actually managed to say something genuinely funny, I might be more forgiving, however I may disagree. But, alas, they content themselves with cheap shots - Jane Austen or Oscar Wilde they are not.

Therefore when I see a new NEWS! Plushy thread, I sigh and roll my eyes and think "here we go again!" and I avoid them until I'm fairly sure I've got my temper reasonably in hand... Being a very irritable and bad tempered person with zero patience and no fuse... well, this can mean I avoid them for days... until my curiosity gets the better of me. But, hey, wait, we weren't here to detail my shortcomings, were we? Besides time being fleeting, and we'll all pass away with old age before I would have done. So. Anyway. The best thing is to try to be amused at them, rather than angry. Obviously, after what I've just said, you can probably realise that this is much of a "Do what I say, not what I do" sort of thing. But... sometimes I do succeed - and I do try to avoid actually posting in a temper. One sign: If the first thought when I read a post is "fool" - alternatively "idiot" - I take that as a hint that I probably should not reply to that one. And, I don't think I've broken that rule of mine.

But I'm rambling, aren't I?

Anyway, plushyfan has the patience of a saint. :)

^^^ Very good post, LRK! And I agree, plushyfan does have the patience of a saint. :bow: I always enjoy reading her responses, if nothing else in those threads. I tend to "sit on my hands" and try not to engage with certain people, as it seems like an exercise in futility. But it's true that we also shouldn't let the Plushy bashers think they have "won" by never countering their (wrong) opinions. :yes:

Lol, the "sexual energy" part is a bit too Freudian for me, but the rest sounds fairly plausible. First time I heard someone call Plushy "inflexible," but obviously, it's right in this context.

Regarding the "haterz": I try to keep in mind that Plushy is hardly alone in having them. I mean, there's comments about Michelle Kwan being "bleh" technically, Mao Asada being a a deficient spinner, Jeremy Abbott = obligated to retire, Irina Slutskaya never deserved an artistic mark above 5.3, and the latest, Yuna Kim is female Evan Lysacek. Anybody with a huge amount of success seems to get a sizable hate-train.

What really confuses me is why these people make so many threads specifically about stray comments Plushenko has made. Most of them pulled out of context from longer interviews and used as sensational headlines. And... most of these comments aren't even very sensational. Some of them I (as a fan) don't even find interesting. Ultimately, I'm just confused. Not because haters exist, but because they somehow lead to a bunch of random threads running around the forum like headless chickens. Keep them coming, I guess?

For a second there, I thought he was holding a camera. :laugh: I keep saying this, but: He looks so young in these recent pics. So much better than back in Sochi.

@LRK
I don't think I've seen a single post of yours that comes across as angry. I find it hard to believe you're an "irritable and bad-tempered person." ;)

Ah, I've hidden it well, then. ;) Trust me, however, 'tis true. :) I used to get into fights with my brothers, and Mamma says I used to strike first - which I don't remember, but I can well believe - she said she could see it on me; I'd pull in my lips. Now, I do it when I'm not punching someone - and I think I mostly don't anymore, not because I'm now too civilised to do so, but I just don't think I've got the patience to put up with the scene afterwards: "She hit me! Wahaha!" (Sigh) I mean, who can deal with that kind of thing?;)

That's the thing...I mean, I expect to read criticism about skating on a forum like this. If someone wants to say they don't like aspects of Plushy's skating, fair enough. It's the threads that are started clearly only to stir the pot, based on articles fabricated from a throwaway remark...and the snarky, baseless comments like "he's obviously gullible" or "he says anything for attention or money"...:disapp: But I suppose that's why the fan fest exists...to get away from the nonsense.

@LRK
Are you one of those rare breed of people who happens to be more polite on the internet than in person? I thought I was the only one! :biggrin: (Mind you, I don't claim to be the nicest of posters... just nicer than in RL).

@Gallavich
Well, personal attacks aren't limited to just Plushy either. See: Patrick Chan, Ashley Wagner, Johnny Weir...

The "he says anything for attention or money" comment just made me :laugh:. If that's really true, isn't making more threads just egging him on?

Oh, come, come, galiavich! We all know he lies sleepless o' nights trying to come up with new stray remarks... that will lead to random threads on GS... and thus on to Fame & Fortune!

Really, I think that, as fans, we fail him in this regard. We should be starting these threads! I mean, if we really cared... Oh, I don't know - how about:

NEWS! Plushenko Seen Wearing Pink Shorts

Is this a fashion faux pas, a new trend - or is he, as usual, trying to grab any means possible to get even more attention!
Discuss!

(looks thoughtful) What do you people think? Sandpiper mentioned something about sleeves in the other thread - maybe we should make some sort of... ivestigative piece about it. Maybe he uses full-sleeves in shows and competitions and half-sleeves are for casual, outside of work, wear?
´
I think we can generate several threads just on clothing alone! Comparisons of black blouses! Some random photo from his childhood and what he liked to wear - and we can draw totally random conclusions about what this says about him as a person. You know, I think we have simply been too lazy! Contented ourselves with lazeing about her in the fan thread, leaving it to others to do all the heavy work re creating more threads! Really (sob) what kind of fans are we?! (leaves, a dejected figure)

(is back again) Oh, I don't know what I mean either - but, you know, I'm just in a nonsensical mood, and I think we shouldn't leave all the nonsense to the haterz at least! Nonsense For All!:)

Oh, I don't know... I think I'm fairly well-behaved in RL as well. Of course, I can't stand being around people too long at a time, either... that may be why; the strain on me to remain polite.:)

ETA: Note: In all seriousness, though, I think people should be more polite on the internet, as it surely is easier. Nobody can see your expression, you are not required to answer immediately - or, in fact, at all - and you can think while you write, or after, and before you post.

^Indeed, for those reasons stated, I'm more polite on the internet than in person. :) But generally people become rude on the internet because of anonymity and lack of consequence. (Not referring to GoldenSkate--most people here are fairly polite, with a few... exceptions, just like on every forum. But much, much better than most).

Ah, so you've been "cured" of your childhood bad temper. ;) I like to think I have, too, except I suspect I'd transform right back into a hedgehog when presented with something to fight for.

I'm thinking, if in next Russian nationals, a bunch of men sport mullets and do donut spins (highly possible, if history holds true), we can start a "NEWS! Plushenko's fashion faux pas and skating style seeps into entire nation!" (banned for excessive alliteration, but anyway...)

Or... *puts on Freud hat--or rather, cigar* "NEWS! Wearing red as child leads to vast sexual drive - the reason behind Plushenko's endless competing!" (banned for overly long title).

:laugh: Ok, let's see what we can come up with. "NEWS! Arrogant Plushenko storms local boxing gym for personal photo-op!" I do like the suggestion about clothing, though...how about those Odri t-shirts he was wearing in Japan with "Zhenya" printed on the back? The height of narcissism, clearly! ;)

As for Russian skaters with mullets and donut spins...too funny! I do notice a rather large % of the Russian men have had the same hairstyle at some point...obviously Plushy forced them all to wear it like that to pay homage to their king, and those who refuse? He retaliates by calling up the press and describing them as a "good average skater"! :slink:
