Glad I got to see it in person at Skate America! I was blown away then, though the performance at Rostelecom seemed even better.

Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva said that she feels satisfaction from the fact that she was able to overcome herself after the fall in the short program at the Grand Prix in Moscow.
Medvedeva took the second place on the fifth stage of the Grand Prix. At Skate America she was the first, so it guarantees a part in the Grand Prix Final in Barcelona.
"I am pleased that I was able to overcome herself after falling in the short program. After the routine I there was such an ovation, thank you all for your support," - said Medvedeva at the press conference.
She noted that she worked on the ending of the program with a choreographer hard of hearing.
"He put a phrase in sign language in the end of the program. I don’t know much whether it is read or not, whether people hard of hearing understand it. But as a result it turned out very original, thanks to directors, choreographers and coaches. So I say the following "I can’t hear you, I have goosebumps of that I feel you by heart, I'm not afraid of you, I open to you", - the skater explained.

I am so captivated by her. She really has it all--technical superiority, performance, physical beauty and the X-factor, in spades. I think Evgenia will be the next World Champion. And from there, the sky (or Olympic gold) is the limit.

Evgenia Medvedeva won silver medal at the Cup Rostelecom Cup and following the results of two stages of the series she reserved the permit to Barcelona. Last year Zhenya won the junior final, and in December she go with pleasure to this Spanish city again. The home start, a ridiculous mistake and aspiration to overcome herself this Evgenia Medvedeva's interview about.

"Everything appeared not so difficult"

Q: Zhenya, does the transition to senior sports have coincided with your representations, expectations?
A: At first it seemed to me that everything will be much more difficult as I am the yesterday's junior. But after the first senior events I understood that it is the same competitions, the level of the Russian championships the only difference is foreign athletes participate in. Everything appeared not so difficult.

Q: Many young athletes say that it is much easier to skate at the junior Grand Prix, than at the seniors. What’s the basic difference?
A: It’s psychologically more difficult because there are more expectations connected with your performances at the senior level. But when the public encourages, supports me, it gives me forces and confidence.

Q: Is more difficult to skate at the homeland?
A: It is. Our many athletes also speak about it. I can't explain, why. I skated at such serious event in Moscow for the first time, and felt it immediately. Not much more, of course, but more difficult.

Q: Can the blots allowed in programs be explained by this?
A: I explain the mistakes with my insufficient concentration.

Q: Isn't that like you?
A: Everyone make mistakes. On trainings everything was normal and when I came for start everything was good. However … But I think everyone pass through it.

Q: Did you come for the free skating as for the last fight? Did you want to prove to everybody that the imperfect skate of the short program was an accident?
A: I wanted to prove not to everybody but myself that I can gather even after the such ridiculous fall. And I didn't fall like this for a long time. There was a huge desire to prove that I’m a fighter, that I can. And it has turned out. This was important for myself not to feel ashamed in front of me.

Q: Where is such a maximalism from?
A: I've always been like this. Coaches brought me up in this way.

Q: Can you tell the Moscow competition was one of the most difficult?
A: Psychologically - yes. Especially it was hard to me after the short program because each unsuccessful performance adds a little uncertainty in yourself. But I’m very glad I‘ve could overcome myself. That evening after the short program I returned (into my room) I had an only thought that it was a hard day and I need to have a rest, because tomorrow I’m in fight again.

Q: What has this competition given you?
A: It has forced me to rethink some moments, it has made clear that many people worry about me. I heard shouts from the stands, words of support. I’m grateful to all who supported me.

Q: You’ve prepared an interesting exhibition item...
A: Yes, it’s called "Corpse Bride"

Q: Wow!
A: Why do all react in such a way? The item has come out great. It’s comic. I have very cool suit. I/m delighted with both from the program and from the suit. Canyou imagine that my choreographer Alexei Zheleznyakov has thought up the exhibition item, has produced it and has sewed a suit for me by himself. He’s a jack-of-all-trades.

"Last year we have been worried about older girls, and now we worry about juniors"

Q: It’s the Grand Prix final ahead, which will take place in Barcelona, where last year you were the first among juniors. What’s the difference of the current competition and whether will there be any changes in the preparation?
A: No. I will do everything as usual. For me the main thing is to skate clean. There may be only a difference between the two finals in Barcelona - last year we was sitting on the stands and worried for our older girls, but now we will worry for juniors.

Q: An athlete from your group participates in the Junior Gran-Prix final.
A: Yes, Polina Tsurskaya. I’m very happy for her.

Q: What advice would you give her?
A: To be collected. Everything else she knows.

Q: There are many strong competitors in your group, is it good for you or bad?
A: Of course, it’s good. I/m in this group for many years and I used to skate with strong athletes. Eteri Georgievna (Tutberidze) has no division into favourites and non-favourites. She loves us all and pays her attention to us equally. But she can't force to skate and to work us. She is a coach. She always help, correct and support.

Q: Does the strong competition in your group whip?
A: Of course. But we don't have anger, we do everything in a humorous manner. "Do you really have done it? Just you wait! I'll go and do it too" This doesn’t mean that all immediately escaping the places and start to kill themselves by jumping. Just we try what the other guys are doing. There are times when someone has something does not work, in this case we come and offer to “play at a jump”. In this way easier to go to a jump and to complete it. Generally, in the game we are working on serious stuff.

"Athletes grow up early"

Q: In all the interviews you argue in an adult way, although you’re very young.
A: I understand well that figure skating is my occupation. The occupation for a very long period of time. This is my life which I'm living right now. Most of the day I spend at the rink.
I was asked for many times whether don’t I regret that I had chosen this path? People think that I had no childhood. This is not the case, I had a childhood. And there were as friends and a sandbox and games in it. I had time for all. But I'm glad that I plunged into sports.
Athletes mature early. The perception of life, goals make them older. If you take an athlete and a school student, which is an age-mate of the athlete, you can draw a conclusion that the athlete has more life experience. Victories and defeats in sports teach a lot.
