2008-2009 Programs by Discipline

The Canadian team's choices are finally being announced. Here's another:

Cynthia Phaneuf:
SP: Nocturne by Chopin

I think I prefer the sultry Summertime . The choreography seemed so compelling. I actually got goosebumps on her exhibition number. I wonder if the lunge into the back camel sit is considered a difficult entry. Very, very cool!!!

DuPage Open - Wagner

Saw the first go for Ashley Wagner's FS to Spartacus this afternoon. I love this kid! The dress is a deep tourquoise. Some of the skaters on the w/u with her tried to kill her (a small disadvantage of being a CW jumper) but she maintained her focus. I really liked the choreo and it's going to grow as she skates it more.

A flip out on the 3S early in the program and a scary moment on the 3F (was supposed to be 3F-2Lo-2Lo) very late in the program where she broke at the waist on the landing but managed to pull it out of her @ss - otherwise very solid. I didn't stick around for the scores because there were tons of people crowded around the results sheet. I would expect this outing to score between 105 and 115 without the 3/3 attempt depending on what the GOEs were on those two elements. L4 spins, L4 spirals, L3 (?) SL steps.

She scored 60.something for her short, again without the 3/3.

Thanks for the update on Ashley Wagner's program. I am excited to see it. I can't see Sarah M. pulling of a samba. not her style. I assume the Yellow River means the Yellow River Concerto, Bebe's music from last year. Beautiful. I don't care who skates to it, I just love hearing that music.

Dube and Davidson skated really well for so early in the season. She even landed the throw lutz! I really can't see much modern carmen in the music... pretty traditional to me. I love the spiral/spread eagle before the throw loop and the eding pose, but other than that the chreography did not seem very Carmen to me at all and (athough the lack of close-up made it hard to be fair) they did not seem to really get into character.

I got the same feeling - it seemed somehow blah. The tech was really good and impressive (seems like they include the triple twist now). The choreography isn't outstanding IMO - I hope that it will improve, but they don't strike me as a couple that will somehow make this music their own, as Lysacek did or as Lambiel could do.

Maybe they will improve there transition and choreo before season will start/
Thats why Canadian FS federation didnt want to see public at Canadian tests - people started discusse programs, which wasnt preparing for the competition.
I cant understand, when someone start discuss programs in August - you must waite to the SC to see this LP

Delobel & Schoenfelder:
FD: "The great gig in the sky" by Pink Floyd

the french push "the envelope" again.....i hope....they should!

oddly perfect match for them. im glad they are modernizing ice dance avoiding the theatrics and characters and moving on to something personal which will in turn produce something meaningful and great.

the fact that worlds in LA might've led to their choice of ze famous Led Zep.

im am shaking in excitement. the article says their costumes are all black.....understandable.

and C/J....earger for their head to head match with british team kerrs with a british band....

season of 08-09 aka battle of the bands?!
