Julia Lipnitskaya: "In the short program, I picture of myself"

World champion 2012 junior silver medalist Junior World Championship 2013 Julia Lipnitskaya told to prepare for the start of the season and admitted that the new short program portrays itself.

- Julia, your new programs put Ilya Averbuch. What is special about working with this director?

- Ilya is always trying to push off from crafted image. For him, music is not only important, beautiful or not, it fits or does not fit the athlete, it is important to create an unusual image under even the well-known melody.

- It used to be wrong?

- Before we went on what and how I do it easier. Focused on beautiful hands, gestures, movements, elements ... Now try to tell a story.

- So you know what is your program?

- To be honest, the first time in his career, I was rolling program with the images. But I think this is a normal process. I grew up and I look at many things differently.

- If not a secret, tell us a few words about the new images.

- In the short program I was able to meet the challenge, because I'm picturing myself. In this program, I feel confident and very natural. By the way, the music for the short program, we were looking for a long time. And when found, then installed the program is surprisingly fast. Somehow it all came naturally. I really like the program. It is unusual for piano music.

With any program in this sense, is slightly more complicated, because the program is more difficult. You've got to focus on every element to fulfill all clean. It is clear that when it comes to complexity, the image takes several secondary. But I'm in this program will try to express emotions, and I hope everything will turn out. Musical accompaniment is too lyrical. But the program is not about love. I would say so, an unexpected topic.

- In the short program you depict itself. And what are you now?

- It's hard to describe all of this, because by themselves can not see. But I've heard other people's reviews, and everyone says that last year's Julia Lipnitskaya and present - are two different people. I myself feel that my programs have become more mature, more interesting. But do not wish to say much in advance. See on the box office.

- Do you harder or easier to start preparing for the season?

- This season, everything was different. In the past, I was given a lot more complicated. Yes, and the season was not so, as we originally planned. And this all went calmly and steadily. Roll out the horses, worked on sliding, create a layout program gradually shifted to jump ... had a good general physical training. And somehow it all seamlessly connected. Two weeks ago, for the first time completely rolled a short program the other day - arbitrary. But still a lot of work ahead.

If Julia skates really well she is totally in the perfect position to be Russia number one lady skater.

Her FS dress is so beautiful -- classy and subtly Egyptian, not over-the-top. I'm eager awaiting her Olympic season debut. With Sweet Charity (I'm assuming a medley), Kaetlyn's headed to showbiz!

It's interesting that her coach has the final say on the dresses, though. Is that a common occurrence?

She really needs the neckline hat we have come to expect and some great cuffs.

I definitely disagree with you, Skater Boy. We could do without another stereotypical-looking ancient Egyptian.

I think the dresses look good so far. I wasn't expecting "Project Runway". All dresses have to start from a simple base.

Before watching the video, I was terrified that she was going to go the route of all of Miki Ando's Cleopatra personalities, so it's nice to see that that's not the case. Didn't Cleopatra come from Greek origins? I like that it's not King Tut-dance type "stereotypical ancient Egypt".

I do hope she (generally) lightens up on the makeup though. She changed her hair color to a lighter shade, so that's a start.

Skater Boy as you can see with the cutting and pinning in the video the dresses are a work in progress so i am sure the final result will be different.
This is the same dressmaker who made Joannie and Yuna's costumes for the last Olys.
:agree:

Adelina and Liza would also have to bomb. Julia skates and jumps like a junior. Flexibility does not indicate maturity.

Adelina and Liza don't have to bomb for Julia to win. Her technical base value on jumps spins steps is totally on par with Liza and Adelina. With great programs her pcs at Russian nationals would be great. And the technical and pcs at euros would probably also be good enough to break the tie! Averbukh can do great work and if not certainly work thats better what tarasova has been giving Adelina and what mishin allows Liza to do! It's a total 3 way tie.

Plushenko's new SP is breathless!! Beautiful music. Steps incredible and in perfect Plushenko's style. Great passion and interpretation!

Dai's Ex music: Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli - Time to Say Goodbye....hmmmm,Dai realy? :(

That might be the most uninspired choice of music in Daisuke's otherwise innovative career. Talk about going out on a low note. :disapp:

Quote from Dai about his Exhibition choice from an article by Naoko Kashiwagi.

"One of my exhibition programs is to “Time to Say Goodbye” and it is also done by Miyamoto Sensei. It was my idea to go for some overly so-called stereotypical one. After sifting through some other pop music choices we landed on this one. Contrary to the impression given by the title, the lyrics are about “starting over from here” so I liked it."

In an interview with IFS Magazine, it is mentioned that Christina Gao's FP will be choreographed by Tom Dickson, and she's hoping to unveil it at a summer competition.

She and her team are still deciding on whether or not to keep her last season's SP.

“Three Preludes” by Gershwin = Gracie Gold's SP!

Exhibition is Chicago's "All That Jazz" which she'll be performing in Mao Asada's "The Ice" in Japan alongside her old "Girl On Fire" exhibition.

Thanks for posting! That was a very informative blog entry. Sounds like her team knows what it's doing, and the amount of work she's putting in off-ice is impressive as well. It's promising that she's going up to Canton every month to work with the team there (and the fact that they started choreography the day after WTT!).

Gershwin is an excellent choice IMO, though I wonder if she went for the original piano version. The violin arrangement by Heifetz with piano accompaniment would be great as well. She also confirmed that her Sleeping Beauty will be powerful and suited to her style. Can't wait to see her new programs!

"Three Preludes" is quite jazzy and fun. I think/hope it will suit Gracie very well; Marina's choreography is a huge bonus. Plus ballet lessons and monthly trips to work with the Canton team (I'm assuming she spends a lot of time around Meryl and Charlie)...she's really not kidding around this season.

Yikes.

She wants that (individual) Olympic medal too, dammit! What grit and determination.
