Thanks for the report, Chris! That is interesting your feeling re: Nathan's projection to the audience. I do remember while I was in awe of Nathan's ability, it was Jordan Moeller who stood out to me performance wise when I watched the juniors in Boston.
I am sad Carly did not make it; I enjoyed her program a lot.
Now wondering if I should go to Nationals after all...
The point of worrying over young skaters trying difficult jumps so soon is that they are still too young, their bodies haven't developed fully yet so who knows if those jumps might harm their bodies latter in their careers. And they are still small that's why their jumps being small I can understand.
Did Joshua Farrish have 3A and 3-3 when he was just a novice IIRC?
Thank you. He was so promising back then. A true talent. I wonder when did Joshua have a quad. 15 years old as well? What a pity that he is injured so often. Nathan is another case, though. He's Asian so maybe he has reached his height already? Or not? How tall is Nathan now I am curious.Joshua Farris did do a 3-3 (3Z-3T) in his Novice FS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaVK0ssL2Tg
He started landing the 3A in juniors the following year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSKlicRSEd8#t=1m25s

Looked a bit taller than that to me also....the brand new media guide I just bought says he is 5 ft two inches but If you told me he was five three I wouldn't call you out on it...I don't think he is much taller than that. Skates and being out on the ice make people taller...novice skater Ai Setoyama sat next to me and she is tiny....ISU bio says he's 5'1" but I think he's taller than that now.
That means he is still growing. He might be around PChiddy's height when he matures I guess.Looked a bit taller than that to me also....the brand new media guide I just bought says he is 5 ft two inches but If you told me he was five three I wouldn't call you out on it...I don't think he is much taller than that. But I have to agree with CoyoteChris he needs more projection.
His jumps are kinda small really. But he's still small so it doesn't matter. It's just somehow his programs are not really cohesive but it's understandble with that age.
I do love Nathan's Michael Jackson SP though. Probably my fave SP among all the U.S. men at this point. It's quite different, but Nathan pulls it off well.
