That was fun! I just finished watching the Japan broadcast of the Men's short.
Well done Machida!! I was hoping for a few more clean performances, but I was still thoroughly entertained.
Jeremy Abbot was wise not to try a quad in his short program and to concentrate on being clean (as possible) in his performance. Other than his good skating skills, I just don't like him very much. --But I'm glad he's staying another season because he feels he's got unfinished business.
Amazing that Chaffik was able to land any of his jumps and only put his hands down on the last one. His axis tilted mid jump for all of them and I was sure he'd fall. Well done for keeping upright.
Machida makes me laugh.
Can one be both impressed and amused at the same time?
His movements are sooo dramatic and soooo big and he's 100% committed. -But it almost seems like he's too committed.
Anyway, whether or not I like the style, he's impressed me and I think he'll win this easily unless he has a major meltdown in the free.
Martinez has impressed me with both a beautiful costume and beautiful spins. Really gorgeous. Just get that 3A under control.
Nam looks like he's having fun and like he's comfortable with his SP. Yes, it's a bit like Javi's movements, but imitating the greats helps develop style, so I'll be looking for him to become more unique in years to come. His jumps are small, but clean. All in all, he's checking off his boxes on the way to his National Championships.
Adien is also impressive, but his program is generic. I'd like to see him skate to a program that brings him out of his shell.
Gachinski--Needs more pizzazz. Much more pizzazz.

I love his costume jacket.
