2014 Skate Canada Ladies FS 11/01

Happy for Pogo, but she can really improve on her IN. And I wish Satoko had been ahead of Ashley, but I'll have to see the scoresheets...

I would have had Ashley first. Anna skated well but had zero connection to the audience and the music. :ohwell:

I"m fine with the placements. Ashley made a few URs for sure and Anna had two 3-3 combos! The judges did give Ashley the highest PCS, so it's all good.

So Ashley, as of right now, has the highest SP, FS and Overall score among the U.S. ladies right now....We'll see how Polina does in China!

 I love how everyone had written her off last year. 186 is a pretty admirable score.

So happy for the top 3 skaters' performances!

Agreed. Ashley's program deserved the highest PCS. Anna's was a jump fest, but a well-executed one at that. Satoko's was also lovely!

Well hopefully going forth Miyahara's PCS will be higher. I disagree with the difference in PCS she got in relation to Pogorilaya and Wagner.

Also I feel she isn't peaking too soon. I hope she can build on her performances this season and actually do well at nationals!

Is Miyahara actually worse in any of the PCS than either Wagner or Pogorilaya and only slightly better than Hicks (?!) and Leonova (?!)? Answer: No (she's possibly the best of the three in SS, TR, and CH).
I understand the TES because her jumps are just obviously very small and prone to underrotation -- also, she's going to be checked for it a lot simply because her jumps look to have potential UR.
Therefore, a growth spurt (providing it doesn't mess up her technique) should really help her; it gives her power and more impact (so unfortunately the judges can now reward her with proper PCS) and it should give her the strength to power her jumps more.

Leonova- not as good as you were a few weeks ago but, I love your smile.

Congrats to Hicks, she rocked those jumps tonight.

Miyahara was robbed in the short. She should be first. Her long was way better than FIrebird

Ashley- much better that JO. Keep working on those combos

Pogo-not my favorite among the Russians but, you did a good job

Ditto - I agree with the placements, and with Ashley's high (relative to the other skaters here) PCS. I don't agree with Anna's PCS, especially wrt IN and PE (I would have Satoko, and probably another couple of skaters, above her). If you had the sound off and ignored her costume, you would have no idea what she was skating to and/or that there was anyone watching her, since she completely ignored the audience and judges.
