I am profoundly confounded by Elena's kitschy new Gala. She is an enigma inside a puzzle inside the tiniest matryoshka doll.

This Harry Potter / Fantasia / Exorcist / Back to the Future / Girls just want to have fun extravaganza is as mad and as extreme only the Russian school of dramatics can come up with. Can someone please provide an explanation or idea behind the gala? Is it a reaction to Julia's gala, seems too similar costume, as a case of 'Anything you can do, I can do it better', or 'The pen is mightier than the umbrella'? What?

Is this program by the same choreographer as Adelina's past gala?

I don't think there's any deep meaning to it. That music sounds kinda like a classical piece in the beginning, so I guess she could be portraying some classical composer or something. And then music switches to pop and she transforms into a pop diva. I think that's all there is to it

It was a famous piece by Chopin and then some modern variations on the same theme.

I like Kovtun more and more. He has some big skating because he is visibly taller than the rest of the field. There is something to that. Same as when big guys in pairs do triples. And his final jump was quite powerful - I guess it was 4S.
