2015 Skate Canada Mens Free Skate

I predict that Chan will look great in next GP, look great in GPF, then bomb in worlds and get 98 PCS with 3 falls and place on silver.

Sorry, last time to post on this thread, I just have to say, one more time, that this event, the Men's Free Skate, is why I started to love figure skating...challenging, comebacks, thrills, chills. And a outcome in which the placements (in my mind) are right.
So, so, sooooo good!

And everyone behaved well at the medal ceremony. We won't have a long discussion about pouting or sportsmanship.

So base value gap between Chan and Hanyu is 16 points yet, Chan wins.

Chan lost the Technical score to Hanyu you know ...
And that with Hanyu having 2 jumping passes that weren't scored up and one fall

People are really overdosing on that bitter tea tonight and we've barely even started the season.

Time will tell...one can only hope some of the words said here tonight will not come back to haunt you (or your skaters).

Look, if we're going to debate Sale and Pelletier versus Bereznaya and Sikharulidze, we should do that in a new thread.

(Bereznaya and Sikarulidze KILLED S/P on QUALITY ELEMENTS AND A BEAUTIFUL PROGRAM AND that Love Story program was schmaltzy and pedestrian--oh wait....wrong thread :hijacked:;)).

oh... i am not interested in such a debate ;)

It's the start of Chanyu season (and 2 more years). It's just the beginning. :) But Yuzu still has the Olympic Gold, so I don't need to suck it, as some say.

Has anyone else ever received 7 10.0's?

Yuna got 6 at Worlds 2013, so that's close. In Pairs/Ice dance 10.0s seem to be much more common. Meryl & Davis got almost 3 entire rows of 10.0s at sochi. Maxim and Trankov got 16 10.0s there as well.

Patrick's result shows that jump difficultly doesn't matter as much in the scoring system.

Someone could score 97 in the SP without a Quad if they really had the artistry, skating skills, and perfection of technical elements. If the judges were scoring accurately. In the LP, you really just need 1 Quad and 1 Triple Axel. Chan could have scored higher if he actually planned for it, with a 3Flip replacing the 3Toe and added difficulty in the jump combos.

He was overscored on Spin GOE (particularly the combo spin - it should have been 0 GOE), choreography, and interpretation. Was a great performance, though.

Scores of Panels? You linked it yourself?

I'd like to express my dislike for using fallen jumps' base values by the way, when it's an automatic -3 GOE and -1 Deduction. Like, the Lutz should be 3.5 base value instead of 6.6 in this discussion.

I was told that GOE isn't required to be -3 or even negative anymore on a fall.
