So So refreshing to see a skater throw down 2 perfect programs and win a title. just like old times. I thnk Ashley said she was terrified, half joking, half honestly and that got it out of her system and she just went out there and did it. inspirational performance. Gracie's 3/3 was huge. Yu-na quality there. I found the hop choreography going into that jump awkward looking from day one, so much of this chreo looks like Evan's from his last 2 years. The music doesn't do much of Gracie, where her SP showed how artistic she can be.

I think the music for both of Gracie's programs don't suit her. I think mostly because neither piece is who she is. When she lets her hair down, metaphorically speaking, and picks music that showcases the real Gracie -- that is when she will start winning big.

I just heard Ashley's victory speech and the Tonya comparisons continue for me. I love that spitfire spunk. <3 I'll just consider Ashley the good Tonya from now on. 
I just got through my DVR up to Gracie. I love love love both Gracie and Ashley. Tara said something about Gracie's performance not being as electric. I really think that was the music choice. And it's odd, because I remember people complaining about the Moulin Rouge score for Ashley. I always thought it drew people in more.
Still am reminded of Tonya Harding when I see Ashley, and not in the knee way. She has that same fire in her eye and go-get-em attitude that I loved about Tonya. Very happy for her. Though I love Gracie too. I think they're both still contenders for a world medal. Yay. (Especially if Ashley can repeat that performance.)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who is reminded of Tonya when I hear/read some of what Ashley has to say – even Nancy Kerrigan a little bit. If anyone doesn't know what we're talking about, watch the documentaries that show competition interviews of those two from the early '90s. You'll see it, too.

Just watched Ashley's skate!!!
Never has she ever been that good! Wow!
I'm so happy for her, this skate, with this music, knowing her story = chills.
Of course the pressure for Worlds will be on her now and like the commentator said, she excels as an underdog but struggles when she's in the top spot.
I really hope she can repeat this skate but even if she can't, she can be very proud if this evening right here!

Ashley Wagner has such grit. So happy for her! How many skaters past their teen years are able to get two different 3/3 combos, a 3/3 sequence, and fix a flutz.
I think I'm falling for Karen Chen's skating too. She seems to have great technique and basics, so hopefully she'll be able to conquer any future growing pains. Such a spitfire; shades of Michelle Kwan circa 1995, imo.

Ashley had the skate of her career. She nailed it. But I would like to see her add some more transitions into the program before the World Championships. And I'm not sure international technical panels will be so kind to her, especially that lutz edge.
Karen should have been placed second, IMO. Her 3Lz-3T was UR, but other than that she was dynamic - fast, huge jumps, superb spins. She's an exciting talent.
Gracie needs a total skating make over and a new coach ASAP. The Carroll/Nichol pretty princess programs and packaging are boring. Her performance was flat. She had zero connection to her music or the audience. And she's declining technically. Her 2A is awful and her 3F and 2A-3T (not called) barely got off the ice and were visibly under rotated.

I was so thrilled and happy to see that she nailed the performance with the absolute power and character! She looked extremely nervous just before she begun to compete (she asked Rafael to hold her hands one more time, so I was worried about how she handled the immense pressure upon her shoulder. However, she obviously was reminded of why she decided to continue her competitive career and nicely pulled it off on the ice! I didn't expect to see THIS quality performance after already watching the ONE that shocked the audience, the gutsy free program at GPF this season! Thank you, Ashley to make me stick around to enjoy FS.

Didn't she move to Frank to get someone who could politic for her? Right now pretty much all the top name coaches has senior US ladies skaters. Tom Z has Mirai. Raf has Ashley. Nicks is retired. Kori has her up and comers. How about Brian Orser? Oppergard (spelling?)? Robin Wagner?

I believe Gracie may be influenced too much by Carroll's aura of authority for her own good. She needs someone who gives her more leeway for her personality. What would Michael Huth be able to do for her?

What about a 'Russian' style for Gracie? Wild and filled with drama? Tacky, but fun. 
I might have liked Polina's boring program more if she wasn't dressed up like an 8 year old. Goodness, somebody needs to intervene in her skating wardrobe and juvenile hair. She has a pretty balletic quality on ice and interesting choreo, but boy was that LP like watching paint dry. Kudos to her for hanging on after that fall.
