2016 Europeans Ladies Free Skate

Yeah, Pogorilaya medaling with 2 falls and popped jumps caused the audience to boo and I can't blame them. It's once again the argument that to the casual viewers the wrong skater medals and they can't be blamed, the penalty for falls in particular isn't severe enough. With current rules Medvedeva deserved to win despite the fall but is that how it should be?

Even though we call her ice cracker Anna we love her. Of the big Russian girls I think she has the most real style. The other 2 look look generic. Tonight, however Angelina was the most beautiful skater. It is HARDER to skate with extension and clean lines. Busyness and half-way-done jumping is easier. The audience understands this. The judges don't.

So it looks like Elena is wearing the heart of the ocean necklace from Titanic! She is so cute! She does need brighter lipstick though.

About the Tano excess, I think we should all blame the judges or the judging system. I wish the judges only took the first few jumps as a novelty into the difficulty/GOEs. Sometimes, the too much of good, is just too much. :palmf:
Maybe something like the Zayak rule? That only two tano's should count? ;)

I wonder why Elena changed her dress. I liked her other dress better. The black is kind of grim, I think. I missed her and Evgenia's skates but saw Anna's. Some spectacular falls there, but Anna sure looks good. Nothing "juniorish" about her!

Our commentators said that she grow a lot again and old one became to short

Elena Radionova is just trying to make up for Ksenia Stolbova's absence this year :p

Someone has to be the "Russian pissed off that the other Russian I beat earlier this season won and not me"

It's not the most flattering look but they certainly look gorgeous doing it

I don't think Evegnia is generic at all. She's the most artistic out of all the Russian skaters.

I think that it is understandable that Elena is not all cuddly and touchy with her biggest rival in the KnC. And I also think it is great that she is obviously really, really angered by the outcome. Because it will make her work harder and hopefully construct programs that milk the system like Evgenia does. Anna at this point is just happy to be there it seems and that's why she can be friendly with Evgenia, they are not a threat to each other. Although I think that Pogo is actually the best of all three of them. If she skates clean, she is a power machine, and I really admire that girl. Elena has to channel these emotions and be proud of herself. I actually admire her more this season, because this is her dreaded puberty growth year and she survived it better than most. Silver is not too bad. You go Elena.

I'm not really too concerned with the scores because as stated earlier.....if people want to compete with Zhenia the Late(program jumper) then they just need to take a run at the same layout. Nothing is stopping them from attempting it. Just add a really long StSeq and when people wake up then go ham with the jumps.

Scores aside......who had fun watching this event? I know some heads came unglued but I had a blast. Who's with me here? Hooray for Bratislava and everyone skating their best. That's all that matters.

I'm going to the jumpamatron machine myself :slink:

Radionova's BV is only 0.43 points behind Medvedeva's. That isn't it. Heck, her layout is suboptimal as she doesn't repeat a flip and does a 3-1-3. She could have higher BV is she changed her jump combos to 3-3, 3-3 and 3-2-2(as Medvedeva has), repeating 3T and 3Lz. If she -can't- do that layout, well that explains something in itself. Medvedeva doesn't repeat lutz, it's a pretty large handicap for BV. Lutz done early is still worth more than a Flip done late.

Well, if Elena gets better choreo next year & beats Evgenia at her own game then she can win. But the podium is fair. I'm thrilled for Angelina getting a small medal too

If by Evgenia's game you mean backloaded tano heavy jumps my guess is that game is not so easy with a mature body or all the ladies would be doing it. Might not be Evgenia's game anymore if her body changes much.

But she was all cuddly with Tuk at Worlds last year.

falls aside, Pogorilya was particularly charming tonight. she added many little nuances to her program, and she was goregeous out there! thosefalls thogh.. she'll break her liver and spleen if she continues to fall like that!

Thanks God she's not an actress. She'd never be able to do the loser face at the Oscars.

I think Lena and Ashley W. could be good friends!

The waiting area needs to go. It's nice to have a green room where the skaters can have a place to sit and a drink or snack. But like traditional green rooms, cameras do not invade, it's meant for privacy also.

What happens if a skater is not sitting in the waiting area? Are they removed from the competition or something?

Evgenia & Anna also train at the same rink and know each other well for years. If Evgenia rarely interacts with Elena, then it's obvious they aren't going to be the best of friends. It's really not a big deal. People are just assuming the worst because they love drama.

In general I agree with the results! I watched with my mom (former skater, now she only watches sometimes with me) and she was unimpressed with how Radionova is so frantic, which I agree. To me there was no doubt Medvedeva was better as a whole even with the fall, she's more polished but she still has to go through changes in her body. About Anna it was so bad seeing her hurt but he held herself together! I love Liza and I see why now Anna's spot at worlds is in danger but I believe that Anna deserves to go still. Kuchvalska was very engaging and she should work on polishing because she jumps so fast and with such good technique that it would be a waste not to see her develop to hopefully win medals in the future :yahoo:

Who cares if Evegnia's body will change and she will lose the tanos? SNATCH THOSE AWARDS WHILE YOU CAN!

She got more important hardware than Ashley Wagner, whose been skating for way longer.

Of course we're not talking about who the best skater is or even who is better in a competition. You're talking about point strategies for winning.
