2016 Europeans Ladies Free Skate

Yes, it's a real drama with her. She keeps improving and has gained a lot in artistry, but damn, those horrific falls keep coming! :bang: At least she does not break down any more.

Two hard falls and no tears, wow. She is tough! I have noticed coach Anna seems more supportive with the hand on her back in the Kiss & Cry lately!

I'm so far from the drama of the top guys... For me the winner of the night is a girl that is, sadly, only 16th tonight - Giada Russo. A winner, because she gained many fans (I'm on board at least), because she allowed the world to see her talent shining through. Girl should get a medal for interpretation. I hope TAT follows through on her words to personally meet her and thank Giada for that performance, for the pleasure she received watching it.

Who cares if Evegnia's body will change and she will lose the tanos? SNATCH THOSE AWARDS WHILE YOU CAN!

She got more important hardware than Ashley Wagner, whose been skating for way longer.

The ISU and figure skating should care. If Evgenia is a serious athlete she should care. Grab a bunch of hardware for a year or so and then disappear for the 15-16 year old is, I am guessing, not a good feeling to someone who is serious about their sport. Yulia has some serious hardware and has spent the last two seasons seemly miserable struggling to get back on track after body changes.

Say what you want about Ashley and how long she has been around and how much better Evgenia hardware might be, Ashley has lasted, which is more than can be said about a lot of girls who are out there for a hot second only for the next babe to come along. It is actually a little sad for ladies figure skating.

That being said, good luck to all these young ladies.

We realised something tonight (well late night here) which is you will never know how and when Anna is gonna fall, all of her falls are different. There is slip fall, fall and flip, fall and roll, fall and slide...

the fall queen shall we say ? :confused2:
when Anna falls, she falls hard and splat !

Wagner has "lasted" because she's in a super weak American field. She would've been long buried and retired by now if she were skating for Russia.

If Seniors who've "lasted" and been "battle-tested" for years cannot beat skaters fresh off junior ranks, then maybe the Senior skaters should try improving themselves.

She has so much power. Like what would happen if Carolina fell on her opening 3Lz of Bolero--she would probably crash into the boards like a freight train.

Both Anna and Carolina are tall with long legs. If they are off in the air it is so much harder for them to save the jump. So most of the time both fall with stretched legs what makes the fall look more scary. Girls with shorter legs can react faster if a jump feels off in the air.

This is why Carolina often singled or doubled jumps during the last seasons of her competitive career. She wanted to avoid a bad fall because she has learned her lesson. Anna on the contrary doesn't hold back and still goes for the triple. I am pretty sure she knew what was going to happen because both lutz and loop looked off from the first moment.

IMO
Medvedeva will be clean at Worlds
Whenever she has mistakes at one competition, she does not make them at the next competition.

Haters gonna hate, but she is amazing. Great program, great jumps, spins, interpretation! Congrats!

Yes. The best competitor gets the best medal. The rest is just in our heads.

Saying who is the best skater seems like a pointless exercise.

Not when you love the sport. The best competitor is the person getting the most points in a man-made point system. Change the system, change the winner.

^ What system do you suggest?

Well this is a good point, Wagner might have had trouble breaking into top 10 in Russian nationals. While she has her upsides, she's lucky to even be able to compete with performances like she gave in American nationals.

LOL.

Ashley Wagner in Russia would be exactly an Alena Leonova and not so much more. She never won GPF, and never been on the podium at Worlds. Also first years at seniors were so bad for her, and after ten years she hasn't got so many medals.

Almost all these "new" russian ladies are already better than these skaters.

If Evgenia keeps her technique through the whole process of body changing, she will stay on top for many years.
