I like this program for Alaine but it's not working when she is messing her jumps

I think Gracie was just going safe after the first combo was missed, it is not a wise choice to force a 3T combo at a later jump unless one is 100% confident. Plus she did two 2Ts already so she really didn't have any choice. (Stupid Zayak on double jumps)

Gracie's skate seemed joyless and mechanical to me, but maybe that's what she needed to do after such a big meltdown.

Eh I'm not sure about that. Imagine if Mao had the same joyless/mechanical attitude in her Sochi FS after her SP meltdown.

I have never seen a skater that has so much chances given to them over and over again like Gracie and still hasn't been able to capitalize on any of them.

It's beyond upsetting. The judges are literally handing her gold medals and she doesn't take them.

I wish Gracie would show some expression when she skates. Her expression is almost like a porcelain doll the whole time. Can't even tell if she was breathing or not. I felt she was very conscious the whole time and was just trying to be safe and to make sure to not fall. There was no Phoenix there.

The only reason this performance was considered fine by some people here is the fact that she fell twice in the SP. She is a great skater but clearly isn't a great competitor.

That is not a good job. Unlike Nationals she wasn't aggressive and blew it on her combo's.

I meant 'good job' as in "good job for doing better than the SP" but yeah it was clearly nowhere near her best.

Poor Alaine she is really fighting at this competition. Her jumps are usually big and unquestionably around even when she's falling left and right, so I really do think she must be jet lagged or something. I did love that variation on the second to last spin though!
