2016 World Championships Ladies SP

A sad that Ashley's not in the top 3 with that AMAZING performance! Skating in the penultimate group hurt her?

Haven't seen the videos yet, so comments are more generic than specific to what each lady might have delivered.

But, since all were clean, it looks like the judges had a preference for bigger jumps and more mature presentation.

Lots of ladies and fewer than normal adolescent girls dominating the standings.

This is a GOOD SIGN.

Amazing to see all these ladies go clean, but I'm not enjoying this as much as I should. I think I just don't find this group of ladies all that inspiring, too hung up on the past with Yuna/Carolina/Mao at her best.

It's just that clean programs aren't so common nowadays :p and when no one can land their jumps, clean skates are something to be excited about

Satoko was underscored. Even with her small jumps.

Anna was my favorite of the last group, she really stands out on the ice. I was closing one eye on all her elements but so glad she went clean.

The crowd cheered the loudest for Mirai and Gracie in general.

The surprise of the evening for me was that I enjoyed Gracie less than I expected, even when she went clean. I thought I would enjoy her more but there's something about her performance, and she was overscored IMO. I prefer Ashley over Gracie after seeing them live.

Elena has really big presence on the ice, and like always, such a fighter.

-------

My dream finish from this flight

1. Gracie
2. Anna
3. Elena
4. Evegenia,
5. Rika
6. Satoko

Yeah the dream will die a horrible death, I give it a 78% probability

I called it first :yahoo: Sort of... far from a horrible death, 22% lucky!.

I should go and buy a lottery or something, some of my favs include Mirai, Zijun, even Amy Lin have all done exceedingly... well beyond expectations.. if only Park could have landed her combo!! Big pity about Alaine's Pina, i really like that program for her.

Mao got totally dumped by the judges it seems... sheesh... eveyrone beat her PCS on the final flight except Rika. :sarcasm: judging really...

OK FS, don't let me down!!!!

Mao was grossly underscored :dev2::unsure::eek::eek: I need a serious talk with these judges

POGO WAS ROBBED

Big time.

Sorry Gracie but you're skating as a dead thing. Plus combo flaw. Nice flip though.

Flip was e imo but at least ! if you want to be lenient, don't think that qualifies as "nice" anywhere but America.

I was watching on TV and afraid that the forum would break. :P

Such a wonderful wonderful competition! I'd have Ashley in first, but what do I know...to me correct order would be Wagner > Pogorilaya > Gold. I am really excited that Gold delivered when it counted but I still can't warm up much to her. Anyway if we are talking about inconsistent skaters taking the title, it would be awesome that Pogo won it =p anyway a medal for her would be great!

We all know that if clean an American will win... I mean, I am already prepared for that.

In all honesty, Gracie is nowhere near 36 PCS, c'mon! But we all knew it will happen, so not surprise...

For those of you complaining about inflation of the American ladies:

Evgenia at Skate America (first clean SP of season) received a 70.92 for a perfect SP. At the GPF, she received a 74.58, about 3 points of which were increased PCS.

Yes, Ashley and Gracie's SBs have improved by about 3 points, and that inflation would've occurred more steadily if they had more frequent clean SPs. Alas, they receive their "inflation" all at once because those clean SPs are so rare.

Anyway, this scoring is the best I've seen all season. Satoko getting a UR call finally, Anna being rewarded for a clean SP even though she's the #3 Russian lady.

What a night of great skating. No matter who you're rooting for, you've got to admit tonight was great. Best of luck to the US ladies on Saturday (don't give us clean SPs FINALLY and then fail to deliver the LP!) I'm going to need a lot of alcohol. Best of luck to everyone else's faves too!

Mao was underscored, her program was quite good despite the mishaps in her jumps. Gracie was grossly overscored in PCs but probably deserves the lead.

Great skating but questionable scoring.

A sad that Ashley's not in the top 3 with that AMAZING performance! Skating in the penultimate group hurt her?

Ashley is never afraid of fight. I think it will motivate her even more. Plus she needs to give Moulin Rouge the ultimate send off at an event with this much hype.

I hope that Ashley and Pogo will both find themselves a spot on the podium.

Oh and I agree with everyone saying Gracie's lead is ridiculous. @Mirrorhands says it best on Twitter - "9.21 for gg on INTERPRETATION. I'll let that sink in"

I loved Anna's SP, what a skate, wow! If she delivers same intense and clean LP then I hope she medals because tonight she was the best of Russians. I was also much more impressed by Ashley Wagner, she was amazing, brilliant and cool. Actually all American ladies did good tonight. I think Satoko lost some of her playful mood and was a bit off on presentation (and she was totally amazing in GPF, her programs a fantastic!), Rika did great and I hope Mao could do a better job in LP.
I think the competition was simply great. I usually get bored when girls start to fall all over the place but tonight it felt like each of them wanted to win those little medals. Great job ladies! Keep that spirit high for the FS too!:hap10:

What did I just watch? OMG! This was figure skating at its finest! And I thought this championship will be predictable and dull! Boy, was I mistaken! So glad I watched it all live, such a great event with so many clean and powerful skates! I take my hat off to these girls and hope there will be a great free skate coming from them also! What a night!

Gosh I'm still so awed and happy and all. Anna, finally. And to think I was so scared that Anna had to skate last, but she did it, and she has a chance. I hope she'll show them all and will skate clean. Finally she is recognized for the wonder she is. She should at least have won bronze in 2014 but now it is redemption time.
